cramps =/= more work being done by quads in sumo deadlift. it just means you are getting a stretch in the muscle it isnt used to.
sumo deads are definitely hammy and glute dominant. a conventional deadlift actually has more quad involvement.

i am trying to determine how those 2 vids would prove it one way or the other. yes there is some quad inolvement in either deadlift type but everyone i know that pulls sumo deadlift the correct way says it is a hamstring focused lift.

i honestly dont care since i dont know anyone that deadlifts for big quads. oh and pretty bad example getting the guy with monster quads pulling sumo . his quads looked fully flexed as he was getting READY to pull lol

Sumo has a greater stretch in the quad because your hips are closer to parallel. If there's a stretch in the muscle, it means it's contracting harder to get back to a neutral position. It's true that the quads are in a more optimal position in conventional deads but it's also true that nothing is in an optimal position in sumo deads because sumo deads are retarded. The quads are stressed too hard for me to pull sumo and squat in the same week so I'm going to maintain the opinion that sumo is stressing the entire thigh and hip region more than conventional deads.

What are some good lifting/fitness related books worth reading? So far I've only read SS, 5/3/1, and the 70's big TM e-book. I have Practical Programming, but I haven't read it yet. What else is worth reading? Kindle availability would be better, but not entirely necessary.

There's this guy that's my age at my gym that is starting to get to me. I just got released from my job as a front desk agent this last month and I don't know how but he got promoted to manager. He thought was the sheet and would walk around like his poop don't stink. I found out he works out at my gym and I went up to him a few times when I was working under him and he would barely pay attention. Now that I got released, he is giving these dirty looks and keeps staring at me when I'm lifting. I don't know if I should just keep ignoring him or what. What would you guys do?

I deadlifted for the first time in several weeks the other night. I felt it more in my quads than usual. Then again, I've not lifted in a long time. I had to put off doing most upper body workouts on account of a pinched nerve.
