How important is it to do abs while on a cut?

I know, no such thing as spot reduction. I'm trying to do more exercises in my daily lift that also use my core. If I am running every day and doing these new lifts, is it really necessary for me to do abs twice a week? Any advice helps, thanks

I treat abs like any other muscle group. I work them but I don't do copious amounts of abs thinking it will yield a faster 6 pack. I also don't neglect them thinking as soon as I hit 10% bodyfat I will have a beautiful looking 6 pack even though I did not train them.

Abs are overrated and so is core training.

i wouldnt say core training is overrated, but abs sure are.

I should work my abs but i honestly dont :P but yes, you should treat them as any other muscle group
    Trying IF
    150-170 grams of protein
    180-200 grams of carbs
    40-60 grams of fats

    1 gram of carbs = 4 calories
    1 gram of protein = 4 calories
    1 gram of fat = 9 calories

I do a different ab workout every day I go to the gym in between my muscle sets. It may be a waste if you have a high BF, but I can tell a big difference doing them ED vs EOD

rumor has it, that if you are doing your squats and deadlifts, among other compounds that hit abs hard (weighted pullups and dips) that you should be set without isolating them. It wouldnt hurt to hit them once a week however with some weighted ab work.
There is always someone less fortunate, with real hunger, with real adversity, who made something of themselves. What is your excuse?

My bad on the late response. My BF id say is about 16%, that is a guess. I stay around 195-205 but im slow cutting to 180 in hopes of seeing a lot more definition. I do about two things for abs and obliques once every 4 days. I do squats and pullips, going to start adding dips and deadlifts into my workout to work my core a little bit more. Reps everybody, thanks for the advice. Been a while since I've been on the forum, glad to see its still got the same great information that it did when I started in 2006 at 300lbs.

Pretty much this, squats and deadlifts once you get above 1.5x body weight are putting more than enough stress on your abdominal and oblique muscles from doing their job (holding you upright), that you're doing more to work them than holding a 45 lb plate doing decline crunches could hope to. Basically any exercise that forces you to hold yourself upright while working with a large amount of weight will have this effect, including standing barbell calf raises (you have the bar on your shoulder to squat anyways, right?), standing overhead press, and to some degree barbell row and standing row.
