Now that I've started working full time and earning some pretty decent coin, I could give a phuck about lifting for mass. To be quite honest, it seems almost like a childish endeavour at this point. I don't mean any disrespect, but it seems like the most serious lifters (asides from guys who are legit bodybuilders/fitness models/elite athletes but they represent a very low % of dedicated lifters) are also the people with nothing else going on in their lives. I know this was true with me, I was biggest and most serious about lifting when I was still in uni, working only 15 hours a week, and pretty much just plucking around all the time, going out, with no real responsibilities. The most jacked guys I see are baby faced cell tech users trying to pick up groce sloots in the clubs, and frat boys who have no job and don't give 2 phucks about school so they spend all their time in the gym.
Instead, I now cycle 20 miles a day after work, and maybe hit the gym twice a week just to do a quick full body workout just to stay in shape. Sure I've lost mass, but it really doesn't matter to me. I am in good shape cardio wise, and I am living a healthy lifestyle. I fit into clothes better now too, since I've lost muscle mass. Also, it seems sloots don't really give a phuck. I pick up chicks just as easily, if not easier than when I was fairly jacked.
Anyone else come to this realization?

You just suck at making priorities. It's supposed to be a hobby you idiot.
and what's wrong with exceeding in several parts of your life? Your career, money, friends, women, and of course lifting. Try to be the best person you can be, as cheesy as it may sound.Last edited by ace_gauntlit; 08-02-2012 at 12:34 PM.

I work 9.5 hours a day and still look forward to lifting at the end of the day and still see my mates for a pint all the time.
It's a hobby, balance your life better and you can do it all.
However, having said that I can't imagine how a girlfriend could fit into my life at the moment, but I'm too young to bother with relationships.

I just think it's harder to hit the gym consistently. I enjoy lifting but after 8-5 it's tough to motivate myself to go at peak time 1000 other *******s. It's also very easy to become lazy and fat because you are sitting at desk for 8 hours a day.

I've seen a lot of successful jacked guys find time to lift. Honestly you just sound like you're making excuses to not lift. Even if you have a busy day, you can always find 45 mins to put into an intense workout.
I work about 30 hrs a week and I'm a full time student. My schedule isn't as hectic as some people, but I still find time to lift.I rep back everyone

Rofl relax bros, no need to get ur jimmies rustled.
All I'm saying is, lifting is not important to me anymore. I have other priorities, although fitness is still one of them, getting jacked is not something that really has any value to me. Like I said, I enjoy a 20 mile ride after work, and occasionally hit the gym to keep my joints feeling good, and maintain a base level of strength. I guess I have it sort of easy being 6'2, sloots will mire regardless of how much muscle I have, as long as I stay lean and maintain decent facial aesthetics.
But I have other hobbies to fill the time in. Now, when I get off work, I take ride my 20 miles out, and head home. I might pick up a book, or run through a few advanced photoshop/after effects tutorials. Sometimes I like to just go out an have a beer with mates after my bike. Other times I smash a sloot and have a nice dinner, watch a movie, whatever.
But never do I come home now and say "I can't wait to go lift **** for an hour or two, I'll be so jacked it will be awesome" because, quite honestly, being jacked doesn't really mean chit. As long as you stay in shape, of course, being fat is lame.
To be honest, now when I see guys who are jacked, I can't help but think they are making up for something. I know I started lifting to boost my confidence levels, but now I've achieved that confidence, and my body has nothing to do with it anymore.*Old Misc Crew*

I go to the gym 4-5 times a week. Diet religiously. I work 50 hours a week. I continue lifting because I enjoy lifting weights. Obviously I'm nowhere near as dedicated as I was, but it makes no difference. I'm doing what I enjoy. To be honest, it seems as though you never lifted because you enjoyed doing so... Now that you can just replace the "childish endeavor" with you "coin".
In other words, for you weight lifting was a childish endeavor because you did it for childish reasons.U mad cause I'm stylin' on you?

Smolov week 3 begins today, bring on the pain. After smolov, coming home, grabbing food, waiting an hour or two, going back for chest. Motivation, where's yours?295b | 425s | 495d
Our evolved natures should be treated with respect, but not with deference. We did not evolve to be happy; rather we evolved to be happy, sad, miserable, angry, anxious, and depressed, as the mood takes us. We evolved to love and to hate, and to care and be callous. Our emotions are the carrots and sticks that our genes use to persuade us to achieve their ends. But their ends need not be our ends. Goodness and happiness may be goals attainable only by hoodwinking our genes.

Sounds like you were lifting for sloots to me.
Lift for yourself, if you don't want to lift then don't lift. But don't seriously think that saying that lifting is pointless on a bodybuilding site won't get negative reactions.
Good luck with your rest of your life goals OP.
Share dem reps before you go though, nomsayin?

Sure, I've found a lot more satisfaction in work than I do in the gym. Is that such a bad thing? Besides, you guys are acting like I am totally letting myself go, when the fact is I am staying in good shape, and still hitting the gym a couple of times a week. But I don't give 2 chits about getting big.
