Why do people wear hoodies at the gym?

I wear a hoodie to keep warm inbetween sets (I take it off in work sets). I also like how I look normal in hoodie, then take it off and everyone be mirin, then boom back into my tortoise shell and every1 is like omfg

But when i see someone wearing jeans or indian people wearing their clothes( no racist) i just dont get it. same with going to swimming pools. they go to pools with their clothes when its 100 degrees outside, they swim with them too...

I **** sweat just by knowing I'm going to be working out - srs - also walking outside in Cleveland = sweating profusely. It is like walking into a Sauna.

i wear hoodie in the gym because i feel comfortable and i dont like to be seen, plus if you have a gym where they got the air on, you cant get hot, by they i mean i like to feel hot and sweat when i work out, makes me feel like i'm doing something

from a bodybuilding standpoint, which is the site im on right, you won't be able to kill the muscle you are working nearly as hard if you are to wear a hoodie during your workout. your body will expend a great amount of energy trying to cool your body down. you don't want to be too cold because then your body is using energy to keep you warm. Happy medium is the best so t-shirt or sleeveless is perfect. and for those saying to stay warm? u fuking serious? when you get in the gym you should be fukking warm from being pumped up to start, and by your first warmup exercise you should be more than warm.
ppl using these through a whole workout are definitely losing either sets, reps, or intensity.

last thing is that I find myself more focused when I can see the muscle I'm working to see if I'm contracting and stretching properly. If I'm all covered up I'm more likely to go heavy and just "move the weight"

I highly doubt that. Although depending on what motivates the individual. For instance I feel empowered and able to lift more by seeing myself in the mirror curling 135 for 12 reps huge and vascular as all hell
