I'm finding difficulty training my abdominals due to pain in my lower back, I don't understand this my friend trains his abs like he's doing nothing and he's skinny in fact the only amazing thing about his body at the moment are his abs, but when I train my abs I feel a sharp pain in my back after around 10 reps and usually I don't even feel my abs working but instead feel my lower back =/ , I train my lower back weekly performing some hyper-extensions but still feel disappointed when I perform my abdominal workout =/
Any tips to how I can solve this problem I've been experiencing it even before I started the gym 5 months ago I thought the pain would all go away after some back training, I even checked with a doctor once, he told me there's nothing wrong with me but failed to give me a solution =/
Thanks! =D

What are the exact ab exercises you're doing?
If it's just crunches and spinal flexion stuff, get rid of them and do other ones instead. Hanging leg raises, dragon flags, planks, whatever, should be easier on your lower back and are just as good if not better exercises.Current Log - Lean Massing with BSN's CellMass 2.0!

you might be using the hipflexors instead of ur abs lol
i used to do it, i did cruches with a straight back lol wut.
Tho it is easy to fix, just focus on bringing your chest close to your hips instead of "trying to get up" to your kneesThere is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness. Friedrich Nietzsche

No it can't be I'm sure I'm doing them correctly, I don't think it's something I pulled when, I went to the doctor he checked my back and said It's fine, I try to vary as much as I can but it seems every Ab excersise I perform hurts my back I only experience this when doing abs =/ I'm able to train other muscles normally =/

I used to get them when I start to fatigue when doing weighted sit ups, and weighted leg raises. Even without weight I would get a sharp pain. So instead of doing it just on the floor, I am using a bosu ball. It allows for a greater stretch for greater range of motion, and it is very comfortable on my lower back. give it a shot!

Cut out the sit-ups and crunches completely and see if that does it.
If for some ridiculous reason you still want to do them, after all your claims of low back pain, focus on bring your abs up toward a point on the ceiling directly above your head, not bringing them up and forward.
And your back doesn't irritate you with anything else?Current Log - Lean Massing with BSN's CellMass 2.0!
