China had 639 athletes participating in the 2008 Games whereas the US as a non-host had a little less than 600.

In these Games China only has 380 athletes participating whereas the US has 530.

I'd be VERY surprised if the US doesn't win the most golds. It has the most (and arguably the best) athletes.
