brb they train kids who can't afford to go to school from birth. Burn out hundreds of them. And it's litterally their life to train for the olympics. 's not like america where they're normal people and go to college and have careers and ****.
edit: that's literally what they do. talked to some exchange students. Either can go farm or live in poverty since they can't afford to go to school or take a risk and get burnt out for life or luck out and have elite genetics, don't get injured, and make it to the olympics at the right time.

I think it not because of population but more the intensity in which they train for the Olympics, apparently being an Olympian in China is like being a Spartan, you get selected at birth and train all most of your living life just to excel at your sport.
