Kai Greene...And not a single Mr.O was won that year Also strong supplement usage Kai can do wall squats all day and still make impressive gains. No hate, but I said this before. You never seen Arnold, Big Ron, Jay, Dorian Yates doing Jefferson squats in their hay day.

you're right, not saying i recommend doing them but just saying they're not completely useless. definitely aren't a necessity to any workout.
anyways, kai is one of my favorite BB-ers. i love his mentality and worth ethic, i really want him to win the O at least once but doesn't look like phil heath will be dethroned anytime soon

I agree bro, it's not useless at all. But I'm just not sold with that exercise yet.
I also agree at that level it's so subjective and becomes a popularity contest when a current champ is on stage it'll be hard to dethrone him since he has a leg up and the reigning champ. No Phil hate I actually like him.

OK...today's leg day sucked.
I think I've said this so many times now, but I don't think my lower back wants to handle pressure around 225lb or higher. Last 3 months, I started squats from scratch again, and got up to working in the range of 225 ATG in the past few weeks. And thought I finally got passed the re-occuring lower back injury that I always have eventually once I get up to working in the 225lb range. Squats have been feeling real good the past few months. But today, I unracked the bar, and I felt that familiar pop in the lower back and then I was done. Couldn't even do light weight anymore. 
So I went to the leg press instead and did some higher reps instead cause the heavy weight made me feel that pinch in the back when I strained hard. 
Not sure if I should just completely quit squats for real this time ( I say this every single time). Or if I should just take a couple weeks off and then restart again...maybe just stay at 185 and do high reps from now on.

i know this feel, strained my back two weeks ago. i know i said i'm going to rest completely this whole week but i can't keep myself out of the gym for that long. i'm doing deload this week, i just did 135 ATG pause squats and felt it hitting my quads pretty well without hurting my back.

I think I've said this so many times now, but I don't think my lower back wants to handle pressure around 225lb or higher. Last 3 months, I started squats from scratch again, and got up to working in the range of 225 ATG in the past few weeks. And thought I finally got passed the re-occuring lower back injury that I always have eventually once I get up to working in the 225lb range. Squats have been feeling real good the past few months. But today, I unracked the bar, and I felt that familiar pop in the lower back and then I was done. Couldn't even do light weight anymore.
So I went to the leg press instead and did some higher reps instead cause the heavy weight made me feel that pinch in the back when I strained hard.
Not sure if I should just completely quit squats for real this time ( I say this every single time). Or if I should just take a couple weeks off and then restart again...maybe just stay at 185 and do high reps from now on.
Stick with 185 for a bit and use do leg presses.
