OK, I know that professional/competitive bodybuilders HAVE to shave, but why is it that even average gym users or like pretty much everyone with decent muscle mass have virtually no body hair?

It's a modern western thing. Hair is deemed unattractive (just pick up a magazine) so most adhere to that notion.

I'm guilty of that sh*t too, waiting for somebody to powder my nuts cuz I did 20 reps of whatever the **** on the bench. Big f*king deal. It is all relative." G Diesel

I shave my whole body. Can't stand body hair. Why? I have no idea.. mainly makes me feel dirty all the time, especially when working out and sweating. Shaving helps me feel cleaner... that, coupled with the fact that it's easier to see the detail of the muscles I'm working out.

A lot of guys do it because the hair "hides their muscle" although if you're actually got decent sized muscles a little hair isn't going to hide that. If Arnold had some hair on his chest and stomach do you think nobody would realize he was muscular? It's usually the guys with hardly any size but have a 6-pack that are shaving their bodies. Its the same guy who never puts on any real size because he can't stand the thought of a real bulk where his abs might not be as defined for a few months. What Im getting at is that the people who shave their body hair are mostly self-obsessed metro/homo-sexual douche-lords who spend 90% of their time at the gym looking in the mirror and lifting their shirt every 2 minutes to check out their own abs and the other 10% of the time they hang out in the showers hoping to sneak a peak at your pecker without you catching them.

Apparently it's fashionable these days. Not a fashion trend I'm a big fan of, though, and I'd hate trying to maintain a hairless body. If it's below my collar bone, I don't shave it (paying me to shave it might change my attitude).
