It's not about being poor, it's about getting rid the small change. It just weighs down my purse. And often - especially in coffee shops - the cashier is appreciative. Especially on Monday mornings. People hit the bank over the weekend for cash, and everybody pays for $1.14 coffee with a $20 bill. Now, up here, our smallest bill is a $5, so that's a lot of change to carry around day after day.
And please do not suggest the "change jar" at home. Unsightly, and it never gets spent. No drama: You know where we are.

Oh, mine gets spent!LOL That's one thing about being poor, you make use of what you have. That poor little old woman may have been saving that change for weeks or that may have been all she had left at the end of the month from her measly SS check to pay for her meds.

Can't offer any absolution for your guilt ...JK.
I understand, but if it is at a grocery store where there is a coinstar two yards away...argh. Actually in the cases where I know they may be low in change...I've given them all of my change (given it is going to be more than what I owe). For me, I value time over money plus I don't own a purse and hate carrying change in my pockets.
Personally can't wait until they install some type of chip in your wrist that allows you to pay using that.Workout Log / Chat thread...Embrace the Dragon: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=169711903

We put our change in a jar then take it to the bank. I don't spend 10 minutes in line trying to get rid of it. Besides when you take the change to exchange for bills you feel like you just got an allowance

Are those the machines where you dump your change in and it gives you bills? They are few and far between up here, and they charge a fee.
Canada has now stopped production of the penny, which will help. If you are paying electronically, you still pay to the penny, but if you are paying in cash, it is rounded to the nearest nickel. (Well, there are some crazy guidelines that the Bank of Canada suggested, such as odd numbers get rounded up and even numbers are rounded down - or something like that - but most stores just round up if it's above $.05 and down if it's below.)No drama: You know where we are.

I used one a long time ago and it takes a certain percentage of the money you put in and it gives you a ticket and you had to go to the cashier to get your cash.
We have a huge change jar and a bunch of half gallon Crown Royal bottles full of change. I can only imagine how much $ is in the jugs. May have to roll it up and take it to the bank when son turns 16 and wants a car.**DIRTYSOUTHCREW**

I used to have great huge beer mugs and old glass peanut butter jars full of change. Great heavy things! I actually left them at the Charity shoppe when I last moved house.
We have teenage boys and one pre-teen. There is a small covered dish where I toss some change into because sometimes Flex likes to take his car to the power-wash bays. I think it's $8 for a wash and it only takes coins. It never fails, when he wants to wash the car, the boys (usually Liam) have raided the dish for all the loonies and toonies and there are only quarters and nickels and dimes left!No drama: You know where we are.

rustles my jimmies when I don't know whether to "take the high road" because it's the mature thing to do or "give what you get" so people don't walk all over ya!

I've basically said "Your behaviour is unacceptable" which to me is taking the high road instead of replying with the sort of insults that the person doled out to me. Part of me wonders what it's like to mouth off sometimes but I don't have the heart to and I feel like it's undignified.

Guys running with T-rex arms. You know the ones. They look like somebody nailed their elbows to their ribs and broke both wrists. It actually causes an irrational anger in me for some reason. I want to drive by and throw open a car door.
Tried to do a bit of running yesterday and my arm started hurting. I stopped and waited a couple of moments. Then I tried the wrist stretches my physical/occupational therapist recommended. I heard a loud pop in my wrist. Now my pinky and ring finger keep going numb if I hold my hand down or put any pressure on the bottom of my arm. It feels like I just reinjured my arm, only now I get the bonus of a fukked nerve somewhere. Jimmies are at maximum overload right now.Back In the Driver Seat with ErgoDrive

Every morning when I come in to work, I stop in the ladies room. After I wash my hands, I go to grab some paper towels, only the cleaning people have jammed so many paper towels into the dispenser that they are stuck. So my hands are getting the paper towels wet and they are ripping as I try to pull some out. I always end up with a handful of paper towel bits and leave the ladies room with wet hands and rustled jimmies.

This is a really silly one, but my jimmies were rustled when I went on Yelp today. I just can't understand why people feel the need to write 3 page novels about their visit! I just want to know if the place has good coffee. I don't need to know the step-by-step process of how you got there or who you were with or what color pants you were wearing on that occasion. On the same note, my feathers also get ruffled when people turn a 30 second story into a 7 hour story simply using unimportant details.
If it is important to you, you will find a way.
If it's not, you will find an excuse.

It has been two weeks since the incident. Once the swelling went down improvement stopped. I've lost over half the grip strength in that arm, the muscles aren't activating correctly. My fingers keep going numb. My thumb has lost 20 degrees of motion in both directions. Several other symptoms are indicative of chronic compartment syndrome. Which is a possibility because the injury involved impact at a location in the forearm and the palm. I came straight down on my palm and rear from about 18" of elevation at about 10mph. I came to a complete stop. There wasn't any skidding, no bouncing, and no rolling.
The initial ER doctor said he thought it was a tear in the forearm muscle or ligament. The swelling was too advanced to tell at that point.
Something as simple as trying to tuck in my shirt can cause pain that radiates from my outer forearm bone near the elbow all the way to my finger tips. When it hits my finger tips it feels like beat-alanine tingles shooting out of them. I've sprained my ankle, my finger, and my shoulder. It was never like this.Back In the Driver Seat with ErgoDrive

That sucks, Mike . . . hope you can get some good answers there and get things turned around. Injuries to the arm are no fun at all--especially when they impact everyday, basic stuff.

Thanks.
Yeah having to take 500mg of Tylenol to make it through showering and getting dressed sucks. I don' even want to think of what would happen if I tried some dead lifts.
The worst part is not being able to play t-ball with my kid or give "horsy" rides around the living room. I've lost my shot at a promotion, can't play with my kid, can't lift, and can't even wash my hair without pain. Yet everybody keeps saying, "come back later and we'll see how it goes."
That is okay though. This time next year, I'll be back twice as strong.Back In the Driver Seat with ErgoDrive
