Word. I was beaten on the regular. Srs.
I turned out ok...but, IF I had kids, I honestly think I would use less physical punishment and more 'let's sit and think about what we did' punishment. I still think there is a place for 'whippings' as long as they are not done in anger or the heat of the moment.

Yep. I used to have a problem with taking things that weren't mine...from friends, stores, family. Got busted and my dad srsly beat my a$$. I deserved it, but could literally not sit on my butt for days it was so bruised. Got in trouble at school for not sitting properly in my seat, took me to the office, told them why I could not sit down and they show up at our house threatening to take us kids away. Dad told them why and if they wanted to come get us they'd have to get by him and his rifle. They left us alone and my hands weren't so sticky after that, LOL. I did literally get a beating, but I learned a lesson that talking and regular spankings wasn't getting through to me. I don't hate my parents, it didn't screw me up, and I never doubted if they loved me. They were so ready to snatch us kids up after I got some good ol' fashioned "behind the smokehouse" discipline. But around here anymore, you have to actually be near death for anyone to give a damn about kids. So messed up.
But...I know a woman Jimmie...."Do not give away to others what you have not first given away at home." unknown

Jimmies rustled over the fact that my workout is delayed again this week.
I did some heavy ass 5x5 back squats on friday... helped someone move on saturday... since I was "the weightlifter" they put all the heavy shxit on me. We started at 10am and by 8pm my lower back was screaming. I had to take advil and ice that bish. I was supposed to deadlift on Tuesday but even when demo-ing 135lbs for work I could feel my lower back hurting. I decided to give it one more day (today, wednesday) but lo and behold I wake up sick as a dog...
Btw, is isn't it weird that for a guy who likes to lift heavy weights, moving heavy furniture is so damn undesirable?Sept of Baelor was an inside job. Wildfire can't melt stone masonry.

I remember my dad spanking me hard enough that I couldn't sit down. For some reason I was in the bathroom after he did it and I could not sit down on my little step stool the entire time I was in there (I couldn't come out till I stopped crying). I have no idea what I did but I don't think I ever had to be spanked by him again. That memory has stuck with me for years.
There was a kid in my middle school that got spanked and called CPS. He was taken away from his family temporarily until they figured out it was an old fashioned spanking not abuse as the kid claimed. My dad told me if I dared to do that because I had been spanked he would whip my a** from the time I called until the time they arrived. I never doubted him.
My dad also told me if I ever went to jail he would make me wait it out so that I learned my lesson. I believed he would do that as well. He was a little guy I was scared enough of his wrath that I kept my nose clean.

got arrested at 17 for stealing a car, running from the cops etc etc. Cop comes over and says you got anyone to call, I said no Ill stay here, I dont want to call my dad. 2 days later my dad walks in to the juvi hall, comes up to the door with the officer that booked me, officer also pulls out a small wooden bat and says, he also had this in the trunk, officer opens the door, as soon as I stepped out the door, whack bat on the back of the head.
Officer jumps in front of me and says, NO SIR, not here, when you get home then its ok. ON the way home dad says you are a disgrace to our family and ancestry, if I was you I would hang myself in the garage tonight, there are lots of ropes in the garage, go hang yourself.
Yah lots of stories like that, and I love the guy for it.EX YU Mafia #1 ----Cant Touch Us----

Its not important what they say behind my back, what is Important is whether they stop talking and look down when I turn around.

You know what pisses me off that everyone else seems to think is no big deal? Taking things from restaurants. Why do people do that? It's like people think it is not stealing. If you take something that is not yours it is stealing. Plain and simple. From a restaurant, a friend or a store...it's stealing.

Sounds like our dads were cut from the same cloth!LOL Dad has certainly mellowed as we all get older. He and mom split (long, sad story) and he remarried after my jr. year in high school, has two sons with my stepmom and they are about 9 and 5 now (could be my kids!LOL) and it's like his whole parenting has changed. My baby-baby brother is getting to be quite a little..um...brat at times, LOL
....so I shouldn't be taking the menus? Dang. There goes my plan for a "flatware sized purse"."Do not give away to others what you have not first given away at home." unknown

I think I was quite the smartarse as a kid. Frequently smacked in the face for 'back-talking', eye-rolling, or the infamous teenager sigh...acquired a couple busted lips along the way...plenty of bruises. None of which I think was necessary...the man could just give me the 'look' and have me in tears lol. He was not an otherwise violent person...not one to get in fights...certainly never laid a hand on my mom. I remember the day our relationship changed...my freshmen year in college. We were in a heated argument, things were escalating...I told him if he hit me, I was coming back swinging. He walked away. I received a three page letter from him the next day. I don't hold anything against him. He had a much tougher raising and he did the best he knew how to do. We are now EXTREMELY close...I love him dearly. Like your dad, MrsH, mine has mellowed out so much over the years...he's the sweetest grandpa. And, I ALWAYS knew how loved I was and how proud of me he was. I think that is what is most important.
Still, my stance is...
controlled spankings, YES.
smacking on the face, NO...not okay."I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." ~Philippians 4:13

Oh, ya know. Favorite recipes, talk about the weather...
He never could beat the 'smartarse' outta me.
Srsly...apologies for some stuff, standing his ground on some things he didn't think he needed to apologize for, some insight into his childhood/raising, what his intentions were for moving forward, etc. There was not an immediate truce...but, we worked through it in our own time. I worked at Starbucks when I was in high school... the chit people say... I just put dog biscuits in their frappuccinos and called it good
Srs.
And I live in a town with an absurd amount of breweries, people steal their glasses all the time. I know people who's only stock of drinking glasses are stolen from breweries. Smh.
