I think what directs this country right now is any entity with socialist type agendas, whether it be people, unions, etc.... Taking money from corporations and the "rich" and using it to give things to people who haven't earned it. That is what buys votes. People on disability, food stamps, gov pensions, health care etc... getting all this for free without even paying taxes themselves or at least contributing very little.
Why not? the people voted Obama not the corporations ... they don't really care who wins
because they know laws are made and passed in the senate, if you look at who contributed money and to who you will see that the same corporations contribute to both parties/candidates
they never commit to one or the other candidate unless absolutely sure of the winner/...
here's a list of some of the contributors of Obama's campaign..
University of California $1,648,685
Goldman Sachs $1,013,091
Harvard University $878,164
Microsoft Corp $852,167
Google Inc $814,540
JPMorgan Chase & Co $808,799
Citigroup Inc $736,771
Time Warner $624,618
Sidley Austin LLP $600,298
Stanford University $595,716
National Amusements Inc $563,798
WilmerHale LLP $550,668
Columbia University $547,852
Skadden, Arps et al $543,539
UBS AG $532,674
*** Corp $532,372
General Electric $529,855
US Government $513,308
Morgan Stanley $512,232
Latham & Watkins $503,295
check out how much money
was raised by both in 2012
Obama $632,177,423
Rommney $389,088,268
guess who really corporations wanted to win? if they didn't like obama as you say he would have raise very little money for his campaign
they know Obama is liked by the people , they knew who the next president was going to be and they knew where to put their money
the market reaction was very predictable .. these drops are called opportunities by the big guys on WS

Or just donate the whole $80,000.
I don't pretend to know how to run a country but I handle every cent that comes in and out of this house and I can tell you that I don't go out for fancy dinners (with or without celebs) if my power bill isn't paid.
It's some of the same shiit here.
No money for roads, schools, hospitals but we can build a new art gallery or a new arena or put bids in for exhibitions and junk like that.
It just baffles me how budgets are done.

That's how they do it over here. NHS and public services are funded through tax taken directly from your wages, about 25% of you salary belongs to HMRC.
Although saying that, they are now enforcing employers (>50 staff) to contribute to a mandatory pension scheme, will be interesting to see how that goes.

It's funny because we are called the United States, doesn't seem so united when elections come around.
I swear most of America doesn't understand what checks and balances are. They act like it's a dictatorship.

I'm going to make a new form of government set apart from the rest. Our capitalism sucks, too. Teaching children strongly bias histories in lieu of more truthful facts on behalf of textbook companies (rich and powerful ones - something like only 5 publishing houses that run textbooks in the US).
A lot of kids won't even take history classes later in college, or let alone attend college, and the info they learn in hs is what will help them make decisions.

A person that respects the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, second, tenth, and fourteenth ammendments would be a good start. A person that understands history would be nice. Through out history empires and countries that have a disappearing middle class, import more than they export, and involve themselves with military adventurism share a common fate. How about a candidate that actually will use the power of the veto to protect civil liberties and end pork spending?
That is a real candidate. There were only two in this election cycle. One was ignored by the media as much as possible. Fortunately he was part of the Republican party and got in the debates. (Ron Paul) The other candidate was Gary Johnson. Most Americans never heard his name even though he was on the ballot in 47 States. He wasn't part of the established two party system so they just snowballed him. Kind of funny considerring that as governor of New Mexico he balanced the budget.

Those text books actually go through school boards and parent review boards before being finalized. The myths in there are often put there because of ignorant adults more worried about feeling good than telling the truth.

History books are biased and read from the side of whoever is in command.

The winner always writes the story. However a lot of the outright lies come from the input of schoolboards and parents. There was a controversy about this in Texas a few years ago.
Fortunately I had a few good history teachers along the way. When I wrote my Columbus Day paper on how I had mixed feelings in regards to CC, because of mixed ancestry, my teacher praised me in front of the class. My eighth grade history teacher kept it real and made no apologies. He became one of the most respected teachers in the district because of his honesty and dignity. The man was a throwback to a time when teachers were stern and caring. Even the most hardcore kids respected him when they were in his class. Reason number one, "he keeps it real son."
He was a real teacher. Unfortunately too many tea hers these days are worried about their ideology or playing politics. Kids miss a lot of truth because teachers are afraid to go against the school board or parents. You would be amazed at what some of these parents do when what little Johnny learns at school doesn't mesh with what they believe.

I cook all of my own meals ahead of time for the days I have to work. I buy the exact same amount of chicken every week.
I measured out enough to cook for the first part of the week knowing that I had today off. The rest I left in the fridge to slow defrost. I was going to put a dry rub on it and it needs to be completely defrosted before cooking to turn out just right. I also had everything else I was going to cook with it measured out and sitting in the fridge with it. I went to the fridge to pull out my food and cook it up. No dice. It was gone.
I was pissed. The person that did it says, "umm that was me. I thought you had cooked all you needed. So, I cooked it all up yesterday. Next time tell somebody." What the FUK! Really? I said, "I cooked enough for a couple of days. I'll cook the rest later" Plus, I buy the exact same amount of chicken every week. Did you really think I only cooked 1/3 that amount to last me for an entire week? Did you just think the gods were smiling down on you and placed a meal perfectly portioned for serving four in the fridge?
Now I'm wasting time defrosting food, figuring out something else to cook, and generally being pissed. The bad thing is that it wasn't my in-laws. (Living with them while building a new house.) It was my wife.
