Nope. If there is a time to review gun control, it ought to be done rationally and calmly - certainly not in the wake of a tragic event.

Based upon the information available at the current time, how would have this incident been prevented short of complete outlaw of firearms or maybe pre-purchase psychological examination which would obviously be very costly and time consuming?

There is that to consider. How about restrictions on the type of weaponry? If he had a handgun with 8-10 round magazines or a simple revolver instead of an assualt rifle with a 50 round drum full of .223 do you think the body count and wounded count would have been a lot smaller?Originally Posted by rhizome

The guys apartment was boobie trapped with explosives. If guns were not invented, he would have came in with explosives and other gruesome weaponry that would have made the carnage and shrapnel wound victims that would make this clean bullet wound quick deaths seem far more civilized.

The guy had tear gas and body armor. I think it's safe to say he didn't particularly care about the legality of his weapons.
