    question about DL with chains

alot of the videos I've seen people using chains on deadlifts they just lay the chains over the inside of the bar, but at my gym we have chains w/ hooks on the end to put on the end of the bar, do these two types make a difference or is it just preference?

you'll f-cking smash the chains when you lower the weight. It's annoying as shiat and just isn't worth the hassle. Just crush your balls and lay the chains over the middle.

Chains might end up under the plates if they are too close. Try the hooks if they don't work then drape the chain. I usually put mine around the ring for conventional and in the center for sumo.

If they have these, just use them

EDIT: Lol, completely missed my point. I wrap the chains on the inside of the bar because it's easier to adjust to VVVV those positions VVVV. If you just the hook you don't get much out of the chain. If they have what shavethefuzz linked to, use those though.

I use to chains to correct weaknesses, build stronger positions. So, if my weakness is just the lock out I'll drape the chain one time over so the real weight doesn't come into play until around lockout. If I'm working on weak spots from the knee up I'm double wrap the chain so the weight doesn't come in until the knee. If I'm looking for flat out resistance work I'll triple wrap the chains so the weight comes in around the upper shin.
