Question My windows backup is 285gb, can I just delete it?

Its taking up huge amount of space on my external harddrive. Why does it have to be so big?

    Backup Period:

    5/27/12 - 7/15/12: 285.17 GB

You probably have backups for every week during that period.

Only option is to delete all of it or keep it all. Sense, that makes none.

What's the backup from? Run Disk Cleanup and see if it recognizes it as deletable. CCleaner is also a good option, along with its winapp2.ini file.

Just normal scheduled pc maintenance is backup. It's accumulated to that size I guess. Not sure why I only have the option to delete it all or keep it all, you would think I could just keep the latest backup. I deleted it for now, not really a problem, bit I had no idea it would be so big. How do I use the winapp2.ini with Crap Cleaner?

Is it the Windows backup tool? Or a third party backup software? You might look into a 3rd party cloud service backup service to keep your backups online instead of storing it locally.

You just download the winapp2.ini and drop it in the ccleaner folder http://www.winapp2.com/howto.html

It's windows backup. Prompted me to add it to scheduled maintenance when I got the pc not very long ago. I guess I am just new to the whole backup thing because I wasn't expecting to to take up so much space. Ok, I added it to the folder, I'm assuming it worked because I have never clicked on the application tab and don't know what was there before I added the file.
