    need help (tribulus content)

Hello, and NO this isn't a "does it work thread". Stats : 27, Male, weight training for around 3 years now.

Ok, so I started taking the GNC vita pack because I got it on ridiculous sale, and mostly for the vitamin complex and creatine. I recently changed pre workout supplement from N.O. Xplode to "C4 Extreme".

Now I notice when I try to stop taking my pills I get depressed. This isn't a placebo effect, this isn't me making stuff up, I am legit depressed when I try to stop these pills. "well how do you know its the pills???" Well its the only thing I can think of. The third day of depression, I took the pills (just those) and about an hour or two later I was starting to feel better. The next day after taking it again I began to feel normal and fine again.

Any similar experiences? Anyone offer some information as to what in gods name is going on? lol Any help is appreciated!

"Feel good" sensation of taking a supplement? And I'm curious where the tribulus portion comes in?

If you don't have a history of depression, you would be hard pressed to claim that stopping supplementation causes depression. It's a vitamin after all.

You just exactly explained the placebo effect.

I have had severe depression for almost 10 years now, you don't have depression.

There is no "placebo" effect. I took this not expecting anything to happen. I stop taking it, my body acts funny, theres no placebo effect there.

Valahalla -> "its just a vitamin after all". So are ginko, st johns warts, and omega 3. Those are all clinically proven to affect your moods. Why should this be any different? I never claimed a "feel good sensation". I claimed I felt normal and when I stopped taking it, I stopped feeling "normal".

i'm not really sure what your question is? you already seem confident in your own answer.

certain supps definately affect my mood, but not to the extent of depression/no depression, its more happy/down type feeling

i've had depression, thats a whole different kettle of fish

Im asking how to stop this stuff without my body going weird. Theres definitely a mood change, perhaps depression is a strong word for it. I literally just want to lay in bed all day and do nothing. I dont feel "sad" per say, but I feel dis interested in everything and my mood is definitely altered. Perhaps the pills are making me 'happy' and when I stop taking it, I lose that feeling? I have no idea whats going on, so I was hoping someone could elucidate this for me.

It will subside after a certain time of stoppage. I don't recommend picking up an "upper" because then you just substitute one dependency for another.

Yeah, effect mood. Not cause depression. If this wasn't a normal trend before you took the pills, than it's likely a placebo effect from taking them. By all means keep taking them if you're that convinced there's a dramatic effect, but your bank statement will not be happy. Those pills are overpriced for what they do.

I really don't think you're understanding what I'm asking.... Nor do I think you understand what a "placebo effect" truly is.

Let me see if I understand what you're saying:

    Start mood: Normal.
    Mood with vitamins: Normal.
    Mood without vitamins: Depressed.

And I understand completely what the placebo effect is, thank you.

Its a part of the vitamin pack. Comes with "Creatine 189", "Tribulus Terrestris", "anabolic primer", and a multi vitamin.

maybe its the lack of a multi vitamin thats causing low energy, not depression. I know when I dont take my multi, the 2nd day I start to feel sluggish all day.

I've seen the pack you're talking about - have you tried weeding out which pill you think is having this effect on you?

You seem to think it's the tribulus, but have you tried taking out a different pill each time you take it and narrowing down from there?

I honestly think it's all in your head, even though oyu KNOW it's not placebo... but the above would be a good place to start to weed out the crazy.
