Show me where I said I know it all.

I am simply stating if you read my posts, there is more than one way to skin a cat. For me I've done enough decline pressing to know that it's not a movement that I want to continue doing.

This doesn't mean I know everything. Could I have implemented another bench day for speed work, a day specifically for pause work, aux work, etc with Wade? Who knows cause now that's dead and gone.

But if you read my posts no where does it state that I am the bearer of all information. You're misconception of my posts is leading you to think that.

If I was a coach and considering taking you on as a client and saw all this, I would not train you.

I don't mean to disrespect you or your decision just voicing my opinion. I still want to be e-friends. But to act like you can't see the problem here isn't the decline but is your attitude shows that you are not taking a serious look at this.

I'm not worried if some other coach or guru reads this. How is my attitude the problem? I voiced my opinion and thoughts on the decline. Others disagreed and I expected that but how is that a reflection of bad attitude? What cause I don't keep my lips sealed and just keep plugging away?

    2 reasons

    1) if you were serious about strength you would realize we are all hurting. Its part of getting strong
    2) If you were serious you would do your best to do the work then talk to your coach in private like an adult

    Boom.

This is all kicked off because you posted this on a public forum. Guarantee not one iota of this happens if you just email/text Wade, "hey man, my shoulder/trap is kind of fuked up, I think it's from decline, can we program some other assistance work?"

All squatting hurts my left hip. I still keep doing it (maybe because I'm an idiot, but that's neither here nor there).

    3. This discomfort/pain has been related to Decline pressing. I know this because when I started decline pressing I would get this same issue. Wade even mentioned this type of discomfort in one's upper trap in a decline explanaition video he did. I have just reached a point where I could careless for the decline.

There's no doubt that my strength has sky rocketed from when I first started this log. I've learned a lot since working with him up until this point where that tie has been severed.

    4. I have no problem lifting in my garage. It's the reason I wanted my home gym, to be able to lift in my garage with my own sh!t. This has nothing to do with wanting to start a new program cause I feel I want a change of pace or anything. This is just one movement that I feel can be taken out and replaced with something else and still assist my comp bench.
    2) Take this answer and shove the rest of the sh*t where the sun don't shine. If you have this attitude, I assure you the rest doesn't matter. This comes from your talk the other day about personnel stuff affecting training, never having time and then this bullsh*t today. I don't care what you do, if you don't prioritize training to a great degree....you will not progress past the Novice ranks.

    3) I would take a long hard look at how you are squatting before you keep on about the decline causing the pain. I am not a medical doctor, but I know that if I hold the bar as low as you do, I have shoulder issues. Get that bar up and them hands out.

    4) I get the thought of the new movement, but again, it is the attitude toward the lifting that I think needs to be addressed. Discomfort and hatred for a lift will be there if you want to improve. have to figure out ways to deal with it.

IMO, your attitude has long been a problem. I don't know if your 10,000+ post, high rep power and being a lead supplement company rep gives you a complex that makes it very difficult to accept constructive criticism from those who are trying to help....or if you possess arrogance in all walks that put up walls to keep out good advice. It isn't the decline....it is the cumulative brushing off of well thought out and politely portrayed advice from others that makes you appear an arrogant assh*le that is well beyond repair.

I say that not to be insulting, but to try and state something that I think needs to be addressed for you to continue to succeed in lifting.

Fine....but don't put the decline bench (which is a highly integral part to your coach's training methods) publicly on blast. Also, don't let it happen once a week for 3-4 weeks.

    I agree with this.

My follow up to it is this:

Ant, you posted on Mat's log about mental toughness. This is the time for mental toughness. If you don;t feel like lifting that day, then don;t touch the bar...period. if you are going to touch the bar then you need to be in that mode. Reach down and give it everything you got.

There have been plenty on times that I did not want to get up at 430am and go to the gym, but I still did it. I even did it before working on a bridge deck and packing #4, #5 and #8 rebar rods for 10 hours( only Thom probably has a clue as to what I'm talking about).

Either lift that day or don't...but if you do give it everything and dig down deep if you must.

I also agree with the bar position thing on squats. I place my hands as wide as I can anymore and it's pretty much a high bar position. a LOT nicer on the shoulders.

There is a reason I didn't text Wade but I won't get into all that. In the end this is my workout log/diary so that's why I put it here.

I'll be the first to admit in the past through out this log that I wasn't the best in taking advice. With that said I have learned to take all the advice given and implemented it all into my training.

With my low bar squat It does cause some shoulder discomfort and i'll definitely try widening my grip a bit.
