Imagine riding a bike, not the bb bike but a real one with gears and shiit....now imagine getting to a huge steep hill and thinking oh shiit I'm going to have to go in the easiest to pedal gear here to get up this (1st gear), now imagine turning around and coming down that hill full speed now you gotta hit the lowest gear in your range.

Or stop been a retard and work it out for yourself - figure out what the speed range is per gear (not hard on a straight empty road) and then work out what gear you should be in when driving in normal conditions taking into account any hills etc (eg I can do 40 in 5th in mine cruising down a flat road but if I hit a decent incline I've got to change to 3rd or 4th to maintain the same speed). Just get to know your car and get the feeling when your engine needs to move up or down a gear so it's not stressed.

^This, and I'll add to keep an eye on your RPMs. If you start hearing your engine overworking, and the RPMs are getting into the 5,000+ you need to go a gear higher in the type of vehicle you are describing.

LOL I'm a girl, I wouldn't drive anything but stick. And neither would my husband... funnest thing I've driven is Diesel, Manual, F550. Nothing better than that beast! We own a 5-speed Cavi as well.
And if usually stick shifts get better gas mileage.


And if you're a guy and you can't figure out how to get road head while driving a stick... you don't deserve road head.

You're 18. Since this is all new to you (including driving), I'm sure you think that it's the ****,but after many years of driving,you will see that auto has it's place. Don't get me wrong, manual is fun,but it's not a big deal to people that drive in ****ty traffic.

If I had a Ferrari of course it would be manual or paddle shift.But if it's like an SUV or luxury car,auto is much more convenient.

Yeah you really got to be careful, and your dead on. It's not about you, but the kid texting on his phone, or the mom folding clothes while driving, or anyone talking on a cell phone and driving, eating food and driving, shaving while driving. Wish I knew how to drive a manual. Had to pass on a $12,000 2001 S4 B5 chassis fully loaded because it was a manual. Felt bad man...
Problem is no one owns them so its hard to find someone to learn on.

I have a paddle shifter and two stick cars. Stick is more fun but paddles are better as long as you have something made by BMW, Porsche, VW, or a pure sports car.
