Picked up some snakeskin shoes. Black.
I passed on the RED lizard shoes.
Let me rephrase that. PIMP RED lizard shoes. LOL!
Also found a brand new never used brother sewing machine.
It's one of the newer one's with a plastic shell but all mechanical it goes for $60 new & has a 5-star rating on walmart.com.

just stop by everytime you are in the vicinity. nothing to lose but a few minutes. I only go to the shoe sections because nothing at thrift stores fits me =/

Hit a couple of thrift stores after work and found some J&M Heritages in pretty decent condition:

Nothing that would give a shoe snob any tingles, but after a little polish, I think they'll look fantastic - especially for $27.

Yes $27 for a USED pair of shoes is too much. Maybe if they retailed for ~$400 i would be ok with it but J&M? not really the best score m8

For a thrift purchase that is pretty steep. I havent seen a pair of shoes over 10 dollars at any of my thrifts. These are nice shoes though and with a bit of work they'll look new.

Most stores in the Houston area have shoes at $15-$25. These are in really good shape, and appear to be very well made. Dark brown captoes are exactly what I was looking for, so $27. after tax was fine with me. The soles even look nice. I'll post pics once I get them polished up.
Eta:
If you guys have names or links to stores that carry great shoes for $10., please post them. I thrift as a hobby, and have never seen anything below $15. I usually shop Goodwill, as they are usually very clean, don't normally put out badly stained or damaged clothing, and are very reasonably priced. However, I don't think even Value Village and Thrift Family Thrift Savers have $10. shoes. Maybe a garage sale/estate sale/etc., but not in any commercially run thrift that I've been in to. If you guys are finding them for less than $15., in refurbishable condition, please aware everyone.

I have 5 that I try to go to once each weekly.
The ones I go to that are chains:
Salvation Army
Americas Thrift Store
I believe the others are local only.
My favorite thrift finds:
LLBean boots $8
Orvis Harris Tweed sportcoat $10 iirc
Patagonia Synchilla snap Ts (x2) ~$8 ea
Tons of shirts. I always say I will never pay for a new shirt again. The thrift is filled with them. All my shirts are excellent condition, name brands. Completely thrifted.

SA has half off clothes on Wednesdays, but I don't remember that including shoes. Additionally, SA, in my experience, staples their tags to their clothing, and I've pulled several pieces off the rack that were obviously stained/damaged, and shouldn't have been put out. There are a few church run thrifts that I go to, but I still haven't found shoes in decent shape for less that $15.

It is hit and miss for sure. Some of the ones I go to smell like straight piss. Holes and stains galore. These days I really only look at three things when I go: shoes, jackets and then take a quick glance at the watches just in case.

The piss smell isn't piss. It's PERC (perchloroethylene) from normal dry cleaning. Thrifts are supposed to clean the clothes before putting them out. I confirmed this with a lady at Goodwill the other day. If you don't like the smell of traditional dry cleaning, and I don't, I'd recommend you look here http://www.greenearthcleaning.com/ and find a store near you. Zero tangy perc smell.
