Interaction I just had with a customer

Me: "Hi, welcome to Herpty Derp Motors. I'm HumptyBrah, how may I assist you?"

*******: (not even looking in my direction) "Just browsing man, thanks."

Me: "Fantastic. What direction can I point you in?"

*******: (still not looking at me) "Just looking."
Me: "For what type of car? I can tell you where they are so you can go look."

*******: (still not looking) "We don't know. Just looking. Thanks though."

Me: "...so you guys spend your Friday nights just hanging out at car lots huh?"

I turn to walk away

*******: "Hey, where are your Herpmobiles?"

Me (walking away): "I'm not sure, but you're good at looking, I'm sure you'll find them."

I understand people don't want high pressure situations but seriously, you know what you want when you come to a dealership. Tell me what you're looking for and I'll help you find it. It will be a much nicer situation for us both.

Not sure if srs. Not everyone needs your help. Maybe the guy said he liked the car but wanted to show it to whoever he was with without you breathing down his throat. Car is a big decision I would not want some *******s pushing me towards something would rather decide on my own.

Unless you're 82 years old you will do pretty much all of the necessary research online. People only go to a dealership to test drive and buy - both of which require a dealership employee for assistance.

This. I know virtually everything about the car I am going to buy LONG before I step on a lot. I'll do research for almost a year and have comparisons and all sorts of **** printed out and I'll only buy in November to December.

I also practice LONG before I go the dealership so the **** goes as fast as it possibly can and I get the price I want.

I understand, OP. I hate it when salesmen are pushy, but not even looking to acknowledge you're there is rude as ****. If I'm just browsing and really don't want help, it is easy enough to look at the employee and be like, "I appreciate it, but I'm just looking for the time being. I'll certainly grab you if I need help." I rarely have someone continue to be pushy and if they are, I just leave.

He wasn't going to buy anything anyway. He's just browsing. People who know what they want go to a lot to buy something. An informed customer is better for everyone because you know when you are getting screwed and you know what the car value is and you KNOW what you should be paying.
