Eating dinner before or after workouts?

As the question says, when is it better to eat dinner? Before or after the workout.

I've been eating dinner before workout which would be around 7:00-7:30 pm and my workout session would begin around 9:00-9:30pm. After that I eat a little protein snack, or a banana and take a nice cold shower. By that time I usually feel exhausted and tired, which helps me hit the bed faster and more comfortably.

But recently, I've been looking through the internet and in most workout routines, people workout before eating dinner. Is there a benefit to eating dinner after working out? What are the pros and cons of eating dinner before and after workout?

I've heard there is great benefits. You should look for a 24 hour dinner type place that is open, sit down, and enjoy a meal.

I think that would be a excellent choice. Chicken and eggs there would be a good post workout option. Great price also.

There's no noticeable benefit in body composition with eating after working out as opposed to before. Many people do so as part of the "anabolic window" that actually isn't an issue. I personally prefer a meal a couple hours before a workout because I perform better. And then I eat again post workout because I'm hungry and probably won't get to eat again for a while.

    Isn't "anabolic window" a myth?

Also some people said you should eat after workout because the fat and calories would be stored into muscle instead of fat. And if you workout after eating, it slows down metabolism.

Btw are these guys trolling? I didn't ask what to eat, I said when should I eat.

For the most part, yes, it's a myth. That's what I was getting at. And the people saying those things that you're reading legitimately believe what they're saying. Problem is, they don't know what they're talking about. It's all hearsay from big guys that have just been doing that forever. Does it work? Yes. Would they look the same if they had totally different eating schedules, but ate the same calorie/macronutrient breakdown in the course of the day? Yep.
