    Not feeling the burn on Bill Starr's 5X5 routine

    I was following PHAT and now I started Bill Starr's 5X5 routine. The problem is PHAT had too many exercise and Starr's routine only has 3 major exercise. I don't even feel the burn and most of the time I am done in 30-35 minutes.

    My goal is to get big and gain some strength at the same time plus I don't want to lose the definition I have. I want to define them more.

    Any suggestions?

    How long have you been following it? The template doesnt allow you to start setting new prs until the 4th week. After that it gets very difficult

    I love Madcow 5x5...I do two 6-7 cycles of it a year and gain a lot of strength...I've always done splits and about a year ago I was stuck at 275x3-4 on bench, 365x3 on deadlift, and 245x5 atg squat...everytime I do a cycle I gain 30+lbs on my lifts with a bit of size (all though i'm not quite as defined)...but after doin two cycles in a year with splits in between, I was up to 315x5 bench, 315x5 atg squat, 450x3 deadlift...

    you aren't really suppose to feel the burn (although on friday I did, with the isolation included)...I know you aren't suppose to tinker with it, but I added 3x10 Shoulder Lateral Raises on Monday...and 3x12 pullups on Wednesday...and gains still were going up with aesthetics

    It's a strength routine not a pump routine see how u feel around week 8/9 it's a kunt hitting your numbers then it's a quality routine tho for strength

    agree here. It isn't going to give you the lactic acid build up "Burn" feel. If your lifts are going up, then the routine is working.

    This is my second day. Problem is I was doing PHAT which is 5 days workout and I was drained after that workout (like..I couldn't even walk straight).

    Bill Starr's workout only has one exercise for legs and it doesn't really burn me..at least not till now. I'll keep doing it for 6 weeks and see if anything changes

    That routine gets me strong as fukk, but i need to keep my diet extra clean, to prevent fat gain. It really doesn't burn any calories.
