I knew I shouldn't have tried so hard at work. Temporary contract is supposed to be for 6 months but now they are trying to cut it 3 months short and make me permanent next month. Don't know all the details yet, but if my pay is the same I'll actually be making less money cuz of more taxes and working more hours.

Got news for you....if you want to work in engineering and make decent money, you will be working long hours. If you don't, they probably don't like you and will be canning you soon. The money only comes with experience and moving between jobs to take higher paying opportunities.
Situations may vary, but this is what I have seen with pretty much all of my college classmates.Strongman Training Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=138026593

Thats pretty much why I changed out of engineering, my dad always has them working for him and they work long ****ing hours no matter what, cut their teeth and pay their dues and THEN make the big bucks. maybe it's worht it.
but arian but glad you got a job that WANTS you. usually with temp contracts they want to move on to the next cheaper temp. Use it as a stepping stone to your next jobRecovering fatass

Well with temporary they can fire me at any time, with permanent they need a 60 day notice so I guess they like me enough to give me permanent. We'll see if they like me enough to give me a pay raise if I explain to them how I would be making less money and working more hours which doesn't make sense. And that's the other thing, do I want to stay at this company and try to move up or find higher paying opportunities elsewhere. I think after me and the new program manager they hired, the next engineer who has been around the least is like 10 years. So I don't think I can jump anyone if a position were to open, just gain experience at my position and hope for raises. City is definitely nice and the people are nice but also I have yet to find a cute girl my age who isn't married. I've even run into a bunch of fatties my age who are married as well. Not being religious probably puts me at a disadvantage in Oklahoma as well.

Well, personal happiness is a different discussion, as it varies by goals and what is important to you.
Also, the permanent position most likely has better benefits, which can be worth a lot more than you think. Take an overall compensation viewpoint when evaluating your jobs. I would recommend sticking around there for at least a year or two, unless something really awesome opens up.Strongman Training Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=138026593

I want to believe!
Yea I have been thinking about the benefits as well. More paid holidays, sick days, and vacation days is quite a bit of money. Plus stocks. Health stuff I wouldn't use right now but could be beneficial in the future. Personal happiness is a big thing though. If I'm working 50-60 hours a week I wouldn't be able to do something fun like open up a gym with some friends. And as I mentioned, Tulsa is probably not the best place to waste a few years of my 20s trying to find a woman.1372 @ 205

The muscles i value most are the ones directly surrounding the spine, the hips, the scapula, the femur and the tibia... in that order.
Basically the whole body minus chest and biceps... pretty much the opposite of what your local gym looks like on a typical Monday.

You are actually in a very good position. They want you permanent sooner than later. Time to put the negotiation skills to work. I am guessing by what you wrote you are salary, not hourly. Tell them something like I would be happy to come aboard in 3 months instead of 6 for "x" amount. They will come back with a lower number, explaining all the extra benefits and taxes they will be paying for you. Counter with I need "x-y" to be comfortable. Don't get too pushy, but at the very least show them you have a backbone. Be wary of any bonus(es) they offer as enticement. Companies are very good at figuring out how not to pay them. Do not depend on them whatsoever for living expenses.
I have been to Tulsa a few times. Did some work there at Blue Cross Blue Shield. I thought it was a nice place. Have you noticed the penguins all over town?

Right now I'm hourly, $25/hour and $37.50/hour for OT. Permanent would make me salary, I'm assuming $52k/year will be what they want since it'll make the $25/hour for a normal 40hour/week schedule and no OT with salary. The VP already told me they save about 10% having me go temporary through this recruiting agency rather than paying me direct because the money they save on benefits and paid holidays and whatnot. So saying they've been saving money on me and me having to work more hours could warrant a slight pay raise. Then maybe I could atleast move into a house and get another dog so I don't have to worry about my current dog being home alone bored all day while I work.
Is penguins code for something?1372 @ 205

Well, make sure you understand your health benefits. I just started up my HSA and don't fully understand it yet (as it doesn't really take effect until Jan 1). Cheaper contribution on my part and has tax benefits. I am currently on a PPO that has a ton of benefits as well. For example, I can go to a chiropractor as often as prescribed (by the chiropractor) and get adjustments, weakness elimination (physical therapy) and deep tissue massage....all covered by insurance.
Just because you don't have multiple constant prescriptions doesn't mean that you cannot benefit from health insurance.Strongman Training Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=138026593

Well....to keep politics aside....it has not affected me yet, nor do I believe it will fully get deployed. If/when it does, I will react then. We had a clause put into our benefits selection that concluded a couple weeks ago that said we can change our benefits at any time if political/legal changes go into full effect.
I have to do a bit more research, but I usually learn better by getting f*cked over then figuring out why.Strongman Training Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=138026593

Dude these midwest women are trained to get wifed up early. It is odd to find a woman that is 30, hasnt been married, and does not have kids around here. If I find on, the super clingy crazy chick meme comes to mind instantly.
What I am saying is you need to lower your target age(no ****)★cVc★

Yea but I'm not looking at 30 year olds. I'm 24 so I'm looking at 21-25 chicks at bars, casinos, dog park gym, and wherever else. And, yes, I know country girls get wifed up quick. I guess I gotta go stand outside a local high school and scoop one up quick. But, once again, I'm sure the not being Christian thing will hurt my chances as well. Any girl's profile I read on POF talks about how they are looking for a good Christian country boy.
Like I said, there be fatties at the park with a ring on their finger. And sometimes the guy they are married to is actually not fat, usually skinny or just average.1372 @ 205

He just needs to shave and get rid of his "you gon get raped face"
You either gotta shoot high or shoot low, finding someone the same age as you outside of college is damn near impossible unless you have a network of friends who know potential chicks or are a 6'5" alpha male with perfect aesthetics. I started my search with a 24 yr old teacher when I was 17, worked my way down to a girl my age, then one 2 years younger, and finally 2 years into my current relationship with my gf who is same year as me but almost a year older. Age is just a number, roll with the punches and go Doollas style on dem bishes.follow me on IG @ampUP11

You do realize that I don't have a full beard because I work, right....? As for the rape face, sorry brahs, I can't change that.
And my current network of friends is pretty much 0 right now. I have a bunch of acquaintances. So I'll talk to the dog park people at the dog park or gym people at the gym and work people at work but don't have any of their numbers to go out and party with or anything like that. Just heard of this site www.meetup.com so I'm looking to see if there are any good, active groups I can start hanging out with. Seems like mostly older people though, atleast from what I've seen so far.1372 @ 205

Why is there a compensation limit for contributions to Roth IRAs? For that matter, why are their compensation limits for nearly all retirement plans (granted most are much higher than the ~125k limit for Roth IRAs).?
If I understand the outcome of these limits...its that the super rich don't use retirement accounts, just mutual funds/efts right?Best Meet Lifts:
