    Anything over 3 plates should get you a respectful nod of approval from any lifter, but at your weight you should be closer to 400+lbs. Remember that even though bench may have the most street cred, in powerlifting there are two other lifts so even if you aren't a great bencher hopefully you can make up for that in the squat and deadlift.
    It'd be like staying fat while running marathons because it's more impressive to finish a marathon when you're overweight. It might be impressive in the short run, but in the long run it just doesn't make any sense. ~breathinglife

    Yeah I hit 415 on squat and 500 on dead, but both of those have improved a lot since then. I hit 550 deadlift this week and 475 on squat last week. I just wish benching was easier for me

    Was your 235 paused? I've hit 265 paused twice in competition. I've hit 275 touch n go and 275 paused in the gym. I should have more than 265 in comp but I got cocky on my 3rd and missed 281 like a *******.

    Was not TnG but probably not enough of a pause for competition. Will not revisit raw bench till end of year, back to the boards again.

    281 was close, a couple inches higher and you would've grinded lockout.

    Doing LP right now! I've heard of people running their squat up to the mid 400s. Currently I'm at 345x5 squat 205x5 bench. When I went home for fall break I deadlifted 530 with terrible form but no hitching

    What's your current PRs on 1 and 2 board? I did floor press as my ME movement this week but I'll probably do a board press next week.

    Im skipping 3 and focusing on 1,2,floor, and cgbp 1/2 board on occasion. Tate press and jm press have improved my bench dramatically.
