I just need a break. I pushed a little too hard on myself with my last push for heavier deads. I kinda ran myself into a hole. I felt myself peak....then I started to go backwards. I kept pushing and just plain ran myself down. Almost the way you feel when you have a cold. My lifts across the board started to drop. I just need to let up a little.
Joints are great except for prior injuries. It is really getting beat up all over. My prior injuries are much more susceptible to getting injured when I am leaner. I feel the best in the gym (as far as comfortable moving weight) when I am a little bloated up on carbs. Running upwards around 400-500g carbs/ day will do it. I really feel energized and nothing really bothers me. I dont love the way I feel like that though.... So I am doing a happy medium. I am raising my cals with mostly fats and letting my carbs come up a little (but not so much I get that bloated feeling).
Food really is what will determine the direction your training will take. (the quantity especially....considering all your needs are met). I am going to relax the belt just a little and train with a little more volume and not so "heavy". (staying out of the 1-3 rep range).
Playing "bodybuilder" for a little while will be easier on me overall to recover from....RAW lifts

Thanks fellas. Been hitting it hard.
I haven't committed to anything yet, but I do have my mind on competing in the next 12 months. I'm going to see how my progress goes over the next 4-6 months and decide then.-Squattin' in the curl rack.

I'm not all that, I've only done 4 shows since my college MIA hiatus. But I've done master nationals 2 x and have seen a boatload of quality guys in Pittsburgh. Classes are stacked (with the exception of 1-2 guys a class)with guys OV 35/40 who can win the open (not just masters) in their state shows and take the overall. You would do well and fit right in.

Thanks, Reddog. I've never done a show but since I was in my late 20's I've always intended to. The problem was that I always let life events get in the way, divorce, relocation, new job, new home purchase, etc., so I never followed through because I would lose focus. The other thing that's taken me so long is the fact that I want to come in at least a light-heavyweight. No disrespect to the guys in the lighter weight classes because I know cutting down to single digits is no easy task, but to me bodybuilding is about bringing freaky size as well conditioning.
Thank fellas.
It's funny you mentioned that, ID, because I was just thinking about those type of threads today. I've posted in them in the past because I do have trouble with certain clothes, especially dress shirts (neck size}, some casual shirts, jeans…and there are always others that come in to the thread with the "yeah, sure, whatever dude" attitude.
Thanks, man. Arms are currently 19.5" and thighs are 27.5"-Squattin' in the curl rack.

Cycle 8 of 5-3-1. Chest got a bit bigger. I think my traps have as well. I am stronger now than I have ever been.

You're just being modest. Doing a masters show is a big feat.
You're also being a bit too kind. You and Touareg are the competitive ones around here. I'm tiny compared to you guys. At my height I'd have to weigh close to 270 to match your thickness. I have a ways to go...Team General Mills

Visited Reading, England last weekend, and spent a day driving through the countryside. Visited Avebury, which has the world's largest prehistoric stone circle. Much bigger, and IMO more impressive than Stonehenge, though not as complete. The town lies largely within the circle.
Overview of the outer and inner ring:
One of the bigger stones:
And the obligatory hotel douchey pic the next day after getting back from a local gym DOn't know if it's the smoke and mirrors or just the lighting, but I have to say I look kinda beefy here. I like that.
