Do you have any tips for improving the OHP (beyond just 'do them more' lol)? I literally have never done this lift standing and trying today was really awkward. I am ok up to eye level then I go wobbling and struggle to move the bar past my head. I can seated press my standing max 10 times so clearly I have some imbalances to work on
The key is to lock your hips, crunch your transverse abdominus and pretend your legs are underwater. Feet should be just a little outside shoulder width. This will give you stability in the obliques.

You can adjust your press by first practicing with your shoulders against a wall with a little angle on the legs to get used to a static drive. Make room for your head to move posterior to the bar.

A good way to find out how wide your hands should be is to split the difference between your wide grip bench and your close grip bench.

I recommend going light at first and focusing on speed. The speed on the way up triggers your low back to stabilize counter force, and the momentum on the anterior flex.

You know what...I am rambling. I will make a video for you to demonstrate what I am talking about ok?

I had umbilical hernia repair last spring.
2weeks of NO exercise followed by 6 weeks of cardio only.
I thought it was gonna totally suck, but I just focused on doing what I was able to the best of my ability.
I quit worrying about what I couldn't do and the time flew by.

It's great to see this thread still moving along. I need to go back and read through a few pages to get all caught up.

3 week cut under my belt with 9 more weeks to go. I started at 135 (ate everything I could for 2 weeks straight to get there!) I'm down to 128 and hope to continue losing at a steady rate.

My shoulder hasn't been all too bad, some days are better than others. I did a couple sets of wall pushups (no cmoore here) but I haven't been able to do these forever.

Progress pics from yesterday. I won't be doing anymore for another 5 weeks.

    Keep up the great work!

My wife and I abandoned the children and stayed with my cousin and her husband at their beach house. We went on a dinghy trip to some islands off the coast ..... a beautiful day: 30ºC; nice sea breeze; crystal clear water. We got up close to a seal colony where they were hooping and jumping out of the water and we were accompanied by a pod of about 20 dolphins which were trying to race the boat.

    The team!

The seals ... there were a few sealions as well (they are big b@stards!)

We were only about 20 feet away -- I was just pointing the iphone on the general direction for the pics

    The dolphins

And a pic from the gym
I've been on a dreamer cut I love my food and booze too much

Would like some critique on my deadlifts. I noticed after I watched it that my back is too curved? Should be straighter? It's crazy when you do one you think you're doing it right but then you watch it...

I did squats today and had someone tell me I was going TO deep on them.

And a question...why is it on my first set the weight seems heavy, but my last when I have heavier weight it's a breeze? Anyone else experience that?

It's hard to tell from the angle, the plates block a lot of the view, but I agree with you, looks like your back is curved and butt a little high. Try dropping you butt and focus on pulling your shoulders back and thrusting foward with your hips rather than pulling the weight up with your back.

Things dont always go as planned

I am back to doing the program I have always turned to for gains (Lowering reps as increasing weight over time)
Today was my scheduled drop to 7 reps. I had a great workout last week and a quick plug of the numbers in my calc showed me what I should do. (335x7...or so I planned)

Anyway....I have been under the weather for over a week with lingering cold, and guess it has really knocked the piss out of me. I just did not have it in me today. You can tell from lift off I was not right with the weight. My legs are scrambling....trying to find my 'groove'....on the 5th rep, I hit the rack on the way up....really a terrible set.

Luckily this is a good rack to have to be by yourself. You can see why. I can just rack wherever I am if I cant get it up all the way.

It sucks to have days like this...but it is a reminder to listen to your body. I am lucky I did not hurt myself being stupid. I stripped down 40 lbs and finished my sets of 7 with 295. I dont often post up "failing" vids....but it does happen from time to time....so I will post the good with the bad...

I haven't submitted my official entry yet, but I'm in the Misc OHP Comp. I managed to bump up 5 lbs this week. If I can keep my strength up during my cut, it's all good.

Yea, sorry about the plates. Gym was packed and it was hard to place the camera right. I noticed too I didn't really lock out as well. Thanks for the tips
