Thanks Dru, and thanks to everybody else.
I didn't do anything differently.... ate the same food, same exercises.... but my lifts did go up at a faster rate than normal. As far as weight, I don't really track it, since it has no importance to me. I only use the mirror and the tape to track progress. I did put 1/2" on my arms in the 8 week time period.
I weighed when somebody asked about it, and I was about a pound heavier than when I last weighed at the beginning of the year. I am somewhat leaner though, so I have lost fat and gained lean mass. I can't really see a need for weighing, unless it's to determine a weight class for some future competition. However, I believe I will be competing in an age class, rather than an open weight category.★DSC★

Getting it done!
Tough week
Man, I cant catch a break. After being sick twice in the past month this week I caught a stomach bug that had kept my daughter home from school all week. It came on very fast and hard. Possibly one of the worst things I have ever experienced. Man, I thought DOMs were bad from working out, well the full body DOMs that you get from puking your brains out for a day are WAY worse!
I was not able to eat food for two days. Last night at 7pm was the first time I made it out of bed and got some soup to stay down.
Well, I did not want this to screw up my progression on my workouts, but I was not sure my body could handle it. This morning was my first real time on my feet in 3 days. A quick look at the scale and I was down 7lbs.
I tried to make up two workouts....bench and deads.
Deads were supposed to go
380x3
435x3
495x3
Bench was
255x3
290x3
330x3
Normally these 5/3/1 workouts are fairly easy to hit....But not tonight.
The deads were TOUGH.... I almost threw up several times. The last set was tough...but I got it. You can see my set-up was extended. Just as I was about to lift, I had to stop and fight back the urge to puke. A quick reset and I was going to lift it. I think the last set was worse because I put a belt on.
What I was happiest about was my form stayed great. Must be because I was just concentrating on lifting. My last rep was awesome...even though I was beat. Everything rose at the same time. No early hips! This is a huge deal for me.
Here is a vid of the last set 495
Benching was easy after this....go figure?...
I got it done. I skipped the accessory work, but made up two workouts in one day and will be ready to pick back up on monday.
No one said this stuff is supposed to be easy!RAW lifts

Couple of random PRs. Finally hit 80 kg in the snatch. Got a little too excited so I spiked the weight. I chased 80kg snatch all year in 2012. Power jerk is coming close to my split jerk.

NG, I really like how you bring different lifting disciplines to the O35 without being obnoxious about it.

Joel, that was awesome! Glad you posted those. You made those look graceful, in a bad ass way of course. I wish you had a log here- I guess I need to venture over to your pendlayforum log Do you attribute these PR's to your Chinese training system? I just got done reading that thread, thanks for the link.

Thanks. And yes. This is my fifth week on the Chinese system. I feel stronger, faster and have more work capacity than ever from following that system.. Today was an abbreviated training. I realized on my way home that I was not tired at all, despite maxing out. In the past I would normally feel tired after doing max lifts.

Form looked good to me and you looked strong on all of those lifts.
Looking really big and still plenty of cuts after starting the bulk
Just awesome! Congrats on the snatch PR and you made that power jerk look easy.

It must have been international back day today ... everyone seems to have been doing big back sessions in their logs
I had a good long session today with middling heavy Yates rows, Pendlays and Tbars followed by some light RDFs and slow wide grip pulldowns
.... I really enjoyed the session today and had plenty of stamina to just keep going.
My plan for back day is to build on the volume sessions and try to get some size back on my shoulders and arms as well as thicken my lower back. After that, I've got to be lean for a beach holiday at the end of June .... both my daughters will have their boyfriends holidaying with us so I've got to be looking big and ripped to show them who's BAWS
Today's back pic at 168. I'm 51 and had lots of shoulder recons. I know I still have a way to go to get rid of those love handles

Just wanted to say "thanks" to those nice comments and the guys who sen me some supportive one's by way of the greenz.
For me, this is a great example of what I get out of the forum. About 7 months ago, I openly came on here to the >35's and asked for help on my deadlift form. I knew I had issues, but did not know how to fix them.
Now here is the greatest part...... I got responses from many people, all trying to help. The guy who ended up helping me the most would be considered a relative 'newb' by most on here. He directed me right to some writings by Ripptoe on the exact issues I was having. When I read it, it was EXACTLY what I was looking for and the beginning of the solution to my problem. (I cant remember who it was....but it reminded me to always be open to advice and criticism).
So thanks guys.....hopefully some good things to come.
I am just hoping to stay healthy!.
Thanks guys! (and gals!)RAW lifts
