That's genius Halfway. It is inspiring to see people work around injuries and find ways to keep going.
I have never done squats. For some reason my arms will not go back far enough to be able to hold a bar behind my head. But everyone here on BB made me realise how valuble squats are for building good legs and core. So about 6 months ago I built some handles for one of my bars and have finally been able to do real squats.

Hey Bando,
Ill go against the grain and say do your OHP in whatever way is most comfortable. I was looking at a clip of my overheads and I do it wrong too (elbows out) but it doesn't hurt my joints that way so there I go.
From yesterday (@184.7 lbs):
From yesterday. Not my best set of the day but the only one we vid'd for form check. My balance was better on the first set of the day an progressively worsened as I fatigued (leaning into the top of the stand)"I'm not a Ninja, but I played one on TV." -cmoore, American Ninja Warrior (ANW 7,8)

Clive, Cmoore, pharmamarketer are looking great as always.
Here is my MISC entry for press. I got 245 lbs plus 135 lbs x 21 reps.
I have lost a lot of strength with diet but I feel great. And it seems my strength is coming back.

I've been out of the gym since before 1-16-13 due to hernia repairs (2) and subsequent post-op complications. But this thread is helping me stay motivated until I can get back in the gym. I'm looking at 3-18-13 as my return date.

I saw this in the misc thread, very strong pressing
Do you have any tips for improving the OHP (beyond just 'do them more' lol)? I literally have never done this lift standing and trying today was really awkward. I am ok up to eye level then I go wobbling and struggle to move the bar past my head. I can seated press my standing max 10 times so clearly I have some imbalances to work on

Don't push it too fast or too heavy. My Hiatel hernia surgey was dec 11th and I have just started feeling "normal" the past week or so in regards to lifting. Push type lifts were fine but anything involving pulling such as shrugs, deads, tricep pressdowns, etc would really mess with my internals at one of the incision sites. Is a big blow to the ego when you go to the gym and have to force yourself to lift light.
