I am a Halo god. I dont get what you are suggesting with "noob friendly" mechanics.

Fact is, I leaderboard or win 9/10 games because I out skilled everyone else. You act like getting consistent wins in any of these games is luck, when it's not.

Agree with this there are skill levels in all shooters. There is reason why some people get paid to play and some people could play for a year and still go negative every game.

i agree. im essentially in the ESL pro div (will be as soon as the comps held for the last spot) and the game fkn blows.

Counter Strike was the chit. If u were new u sucked hard and got insta killed all the time. Took a good few months before u were solid and around a year to be full out pro

Halo:CE had very, very little aim assist, and is one of the most balanced shooters of all time.

Skill gap was enormous compared to other Halos.

UT2004 required a lot of twitch gameplay skill. You had to be fast and smart. Smart because you gotta know when the powerups are up and down and the location etc

Also, any fps back in the day on competitive scene took skill and teamwork. Chitload of strats and strategies. Nowadays FPS games are loaded with mainstream bull**** catering to kids and pub noobs.

This was the last good, pure skill Call of Duty. The more skilled player would always beat the inferior player. No bull**** perks or helicopters; just you, a gun, and your skills.

I still have not played a better FPS than Return to Castle Wolfenstein on PC. The skill required was unparalleled. I became one of the best COD modern warfare players and competed regionally all the while I hated the game. Was so piss easy compared to proper games like RTCW.

I WISH they would re-release it simply with updated graphics and I'd buy it again and many more would as they'd realise what a treasure it is (no homo.)

No other game got the balance between class-based multiplayer systems and relevant objective based gameplay as correct as this one


Lt was required as he's the only class that can distribute ammo to himself and other players. He can also call in airstrikes and artillery support

Medic was crucial as its the only class that can distribute health to himself and other players and can "revive" fallen teammates to bring them back to life.

Engineer was crucial (except for deathmatch only games)as you could not complete the objective without them. They could plant and diffuse dynamite charges, got equipped with a ****load of grenades and could repair turrets. In some mods they could also plant mines.

Soldiers were the only class who could use the heavy weapons; rocket launcher, chain gun, flamethrower, sniper.

7 life limit with objective based gameplay was soooooo HNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG!

Damn I forgot about Battlefield Vietnam. Loved that one too. Brb jamming to 60s music like "Surfin' Bird" while blasting fools in the Cobra or driving like a maniac in the jeep or the fn scooter. Lmao scooter was hilarious.

brb strafe jumping large gaps
brb timing weapon spawns
brb timing when someone is coming around a corner and they turn corner to catch rocket in the face
brb timing on hand grenades
