At this point all I know is that "something" was passed and our system was apparently changed, and I'm hoping you all could aware me.
I don't get sick except the one time a year where I get under the weather and need an anti-biotic (ammoxicicillin usually does it for me).
If anything I'm more worried about injuries related to lifting and other sport-related activities.
So, should I hate "Obamacare?"
Should I be worried?
Thanks.

Way too complicated to just say should I hate it or not. I hate the fact that the government is reaching even further into my personal life and business. I hate the fact that SOME of the people benefiting are just lazy. I love the fact that I can stay on my parents plan til 26, and I love that kids under 19 can't be denied by their parents plan for pre-existing conditions, and I hate that people don't realize that EVERYONE'S taxes are going to increase. I love that there are people who can get care that couldn't previously, and I hate that the government thinks it can manage something of this magnitude after the debacle that was social security.
Very complex, and a lot to love and a lot to hate. Here for the gains.
We're all gonna make it brah.

If you're like half the people up in arms about it, really just the Obama part.
Not saying everyone is like that.
edit: sup fellow STL brah.
Heart opens things up on the 4th of July at Fair St. Louis. Third Eye Blind plays Friday, July 6th and country music star Dierks Bentley is in concert Saturday, July 7th. All of those shows will be on the Arch grounds and they're all free.
The Celebrate St. Louis summer concerts will be at Soldier's Memorial. Neon Trees will perform July 13. Michael Franti and Spearhead will be in town July 14. The Offspring will perform July 20 and St. Louis' own Nelly will take the stage July 21.
****'s going to get real when Nelly plays St. Louie and Hot in Here.

Strong 18-22 year olds on the misc saying "you'll only hate it if you're a rich old prick"
Nah brah, I'm only 28, I make $72k (have some student loan debt...worked hard to get where I am)...
I hate it because MY TAXES ARE GOING UP to PAY FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T PAY TAXES.
HALF of this country doesn't pay ANY income tax.
I worked a part-time through school to minimize debt. Now, they want loan debt forgiven. I paid for (and still do pay for my own health insurance.) Now, I can pay for Chrissy crackhead and her ten kids. (inb4...you already do...lol no, not to this extent I dont)
The problem with Socialism is eventually you run out of other peoples money to give away.Last edited by mikeditka; 06-29-2012 at 05:21 PM.

Honestly I dont actually know much myself other than by 2014 all americans will be required to have and pay for some form of medical insurance, or face "penalties", which could be a penalty on taxes for all I know.
Two questions that interest me are these:
1. Is this a government funded system? and If so, then does it give the government access to the medical records of American citizens. Who knows what they could and would do with this information.
2. If by 2014 approximately 17% more Americans have access to health insurance and there is not a matched increase in percentage of health care workers, how is this going to affect the quality of health care in America? Speaking from within the medical field, M.D's and nurses are already spread out very thinly and E.R. waiting times are already as high as 6 hours during peak hours. Personally I sometimes have to make an appointment with my personal physician 2 weeks in advance.
No, not no matter what, because you will be literally paying for it out of pocket whether you want it or not.

The penalty will be collected by the Internal Revenue Service, which is one reason the chief justice cited for considering it to be a tax. In fact, the penalty is spelled out in Title 26 of the U.S. Code — the “Internal Revenue Code” — under Subtitle D — “Miscellaneous Excise Taxes.”

We've embraced fiscal irresponsibility because we believed in the saints of the marketed capitalism. The more money you have, the holier you are.
Look down on the low-income people who've 'taken' a fraction of what the people in suits have. But it doesn't matter, because if a man with money is taking your money, it's not stealing, right? Take a look at our current economic state and the diminishing influence of the U.S. as an economic world power. We can't afford "obamacare" just as we can't afford military imperialism and the whole gamut of the other things that big government has created over the years.
There must be a crash, and it is going to make everything before it look weak. Keep living under normalcy bias and your death will come sooner rather than later.
