can you still lose weight without doing cardio?

I'm on a budget and I was wondering IF I just ate clean at a considerable amount and did weightlifting or yoga, can I shed off weight?

Yes. Cardio is not required for weight loss. Cardio is good for your general health and is a good idea.

    A calorie deficit IS REQUIRED

Eating clean is not. Eating clean is a vague term that is often frowned upon around here. Eat what you want but make sure it fits in your daily calories. You must be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. That means eating less than you burn.

Cardio doesn't have to cost a thing $ wise...go for a walk or a run outside. It isn't neccessary but I like to eat a little more and it helps me achieve the same results while eating a few hundred more calories a day.

The more cardio you do the more food you have to eat to compensate. You can lose WEIGHT with no exercise. If you want to preserve muscle, you need to train with weights.
    The floundering has ended.

Wouldn't eating more food to compensate for calories loss during cardio defeat the purpose of doing cardio?

no. There's a point where you can be in too much of a deficit, which will cause unneeded muscle loss.

But OP, it all comes down to daily calories taken in. If you have your diet down 100%, you don't need to do cardio, aside from building endurance. If you have a smart phone, download myfitnesspal in the apps and you can easily figure how many calories you've taken in without the hassle of manually counting.

Absolutely. I'm losing weight like a mofo now and not a touch of cardio.

Cardio is free...so is basic "weight lifting". You can walk/run outside, you can do pushups, situps, inverse dips, get a pullup bar for a few bucks all for free/cheap with what you have at your house now.

Cardio is not required as has been stated before here. I do it because I have a tendency to eat a few extra calories during the day so that allows me a buffer in my calories. Cardio calories you can eat back because you should already be in a calorie deficit and thus you should still try to hit your target for the day/week however you do it.

Myfitnesspal is your friend, even if you don't have a smartphone, just write down what you eat and plug it in during the day when you get a chance.

yes you can lose weight without cardio. If you have a considerable amount to lose (more than 20lbs, as in "lose 20lbs and you'll be in the high teens bodyfat", not "lose 20lbs and be shredded") you are foolish to not do it, unless a medical condition prevents you from doing it.
Don't Drink, Don't Smoke, Watdo you do?

Some people like to get up an hour early and perform cardio working off a few hundred calories, and then have a energy drink with a few hundred calories in it.

Others prefer just to stay in bed, skip both the cardio and the energy drink.

They end up in the same place fat wise.

Consider that cardio creates a deficit free of restrictions in terms of macros. This makes it easier for women and smaller men to meet macro targets.

Think in terms of someone wanting to save money and then try reversing that statement
