my coworkers and i had a discussion about this recently when one of the managers b*tched two of the servers for saying that they were only working for the tips.
OF COURSE WE WORK THE ****ING TIPS. Food service is NOT worth 7.25/hr. TIPS is what everyone works for.
Food service industry (unless you're in the kitchen on a salary or double digit hourly wage) is all about tips, and that's what everyone works for and lives off of. The paycheck is simply a nice bonus.

nope not mad. nothing more satisfying than a fat tip out at the end of my shift, even though im only a busser.
days where i make 40 bucks off tips, the servers who work equal hours as me (9a-3p) will make around 120. am i mad? nope. i would ****ing HATE to be a server and deal with all the bull**** they put up with. servers who open in the morning (730a) or start at 8a make even more in tips.

brb i live in hawaii, Cost of Living >>>>>>>>>>> all
and im a broke ass college student, 7.25/hr even for full time on a less stressful and much easier job not in the food industry still isnt sht.
food industry at that wage? **** that. no restaurant would be able to hire a full staff because no one would do that kind of work for 7.25/hr.
im a college student on summer break.
oh and my parents live off tips too. dad is a limo taxi driver, mom is a hairstylist.
i have mad respect for tips since basically my entire life (past job was a dishwasher where i got tipped out too) is built from tips.

hah. no ****ing way.
no one would take a **** food service job for 7.25 an hour. dealing with fuktard customers, juggling tables, dealing with kitchen staff on food problems, etc. it's non stop stress. even as a busser my job is relatively simple on paper but it still blows dealing with fuktard customers. i guarantee for a fact i would have quit my dishwasher/expediter/utility job last summer if I didn't get tips on top of my 8/hr wage. i would definitely quit my current busser job without tips.
there are MUCH easier jobs than food service at minimum wage.
non commissioned sales at minimum wage >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> food service at minimum wage and no tips
all you fuktards talking **** on tipping--GET A JOB IN THE FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY
It's easy to talk **** when you're on the outside looking in. You'll have a ton more respect from the inside looking out.
I can guarantee tips will make your ****ty shift brighter.
Better yet--how about you ****ers work WITHOUT tips, and see what it's like. Come back and tell me how easy it is to work and live off minimum wage no tips in the food service industry.
