I've been lifting for three years now but only very seriously for a year. I got up to 220 at 6'1" this winter but have since cut fat and am down to 205. When I look at myself it's obvious I lift but I'm what I consider "muscular" but not "big". I'm thinking if I can get up to 220 at my current bf% I'll be decently sized.
At what point did you guys reach the point where people (or you!) thought you were "big".

Even the biggest guys always think they are small. There is always further to go and this is a lifetime pursuit. Just stay the course and celebrate progress as you go.
Focus on getting STRONGER, size is an inevitable bi-product. If you can't squat with proper form you have no business at the rack.
"I'll give you one book to read, starting strength; read that book" -Jim Wendler, during the "Big" seminar.

Well, I gained 40 lbs keeping bodyfat percentage around the same and I am still small....I went from aneroxic to skinny...
with that said I am convinced that bodybuilding is a sport that requires drugs to excel at. Average gentics will get you average results. SOme guys have above average genetics but not many.

If you are asking this for something to look forward to, then you will never see yourself as big. At 6'1, 205 you probably are big, but you don't see that.
One thing I've learned as a fact on this board is most people have a hard time being objective and seeing themselves for what they really are. They post pics saying that their chest is super small or shoulders are lagging...but the pics show that they look fine. Heck, they usually look better than fine. But they'll never see it.
Beginner and intermediate bodybuilders are their own worst critique and that doesn't do much for looking at what may actually be going on and taking appropriate steps to fix it.
If you are like most people here, you are going to have to spend some time working on your objectivity or you will never see past your own insecurities.
