Anyone tried adding in a series of sprints to your leg day?

    Hi all,

Im thinking of adding in a series of sprints to the end of my leg day eg 6 x 20second sprints.

Think this is a good idea?
Anyone tried this and had results?

    Cheers
    :)

Depends on your goals and the reason you're adding them.

If you're just adding them on as a quick bit of extra CV work then go for it.

If you think the sprints might be a good addition & they might lead to some hypertrophy then they probably won't, they won't be detrimental either though.

If you're trying to improve your speed then do your sprint work on a seperate day.

If you just want to add them for fun then do for it.

I sprint for performance and cardio purposes. I tend to keep them off of lifting days.

    Cheers for the replies guys!

Sorry I should have stated that my aim is Hypertrophy! Cardio benefits are also welcome and means i could drop one of my twice weekly HIIT sessions.

So you dont think sprints would help with hypertrophy then? :S
    :)

Run up and down the stairs a few times instead, if you have a building that is decently tall.

Personally, there's no way I could sprint at the end of leg day. My quads are usually on fire and I do good just to be able to walk.

i would think some sort of box jump would be more beneficial than sprinting for the bodybuilder's purposes....
