I think I am mainly gonna contain most of my posting to the journals section and the losing fat section (for people who need legit advice)...the other sections kinda drive me crazy.

one last post before vacation.
bench day
which is really CGBP test day.
so got 175x6 and 180x5, which is like 210...which is probably about right for regular being 250/260ish.
I could tell it was triceps giving out, which was a wierd feeling since with a regular grip it was always chest failure.
did 135x5x10,10,10,9,7
dips to failure. pullups scattered in,.
so looks like I will set the CGBP training max at 190-195ish or so, but I have a feeling I'm gonna catch up to my regular grip strengths faster than 5/3/1 normal progression. We'll have to see. I think I gained 5-10 pounds from last week just by being more efficient with the movement, so I may get more of that, i don't know. being able to crank out the 135s pretty easy to me means that the heavier stuff I just have to get better at balancing it because it feels much more precarious when your hands are in almost off the knurling....the heavier weights (heavy is a relative term) felt like half the effort was in balancing, whereas with my old grip it was a little balance and a lot of PUSH IT *******!...anyway, I think as I get more efficient I may outrun the progression. or not. thats the fun of it.
again no shoulder pain for the second week in a row with CGBP, which is kinda crazy because I feel it working anterior delts more...but the pain was always joint related...maybe the extra shoulder work will help my OHP.
OK catching a plane tomorrow. Will post from Mexico, depending on reliability of the wireless...haha.
the moral of the story is....I will some day be CGBPing 300 pounds and then I will be a badass. at least in my own mind.Last edited by Retoaded; 08-24-2012 at 02:29 PM.

Nice job! And enjoy the trip!
With a closer grip it definitely becomes more about technique to keep the weights progressing.
Maybe when you get back that anorexic kid will have added 10 cable crossover movements to bring his chest up.the latest and greatest in training...or whatever.

so back from Mexico - first morning weigh in around 198. not too bad...I think its 1-2 pounds of real weight and 1-2 pounds of water/contents of stomach. We'll see, should be back to 194/195 by middle of next week.
Gonna start cycle 4 either today or tomorrow depending on how I feel. Gonna change it up and do squats>OHP>deads>bench or deads>bench>squats>OHP...feel I can do either order since I did NO weight lifting last week. The only thing I did was climb the stairs to our condo on the 6th/7th floor instead of taking the elevator. Good (and sad) at the same time, that would have tired me or at least winded me taking 6-7 flights of stairs a year ago. I started taking them 2 at a time to see if I could make myself breath harder but even that didn't affect me at all, pulse would still be at like 80 and easy breathing. So that is a huge difference in a year just in general fitness.Stern Crew
