    Deadlift question

Do you guys rest the bar back on the ground between reps, or stop short? Does it matter?

Its called a deadlift because you lift it from a dead start.

Drop the bar on the ground and reset and do your next rep.

(MODS should move this to Exercise section)

I'd snap everything up if I didn't put the bar back down...

Def rest the bar back on the ground. All your energy should be used getting the bar up. With a controlled drop for the decent, don't waste your energy setting the bar down slowly or even worse stopping it short.

There's a time and place for almost everything. When it comes to a conventional deadlift I'd say the bar should touch the ground, whether you touch-and-go or let it stop would be a better decision to make.
For a stiff-leg deadlift or RDL, hamstring tightness may prevent going all the way to the ground (especially the first few reps).

Hit the ground, momentary pause (don't bounce), lift again.

For normal deads, all the way dow. When I do stiff legged deads, I go until I feel it in my hams, usually about mid shin, pause and then come back up.

it aint a deadlift if it doesn't touch the ground.........

I personally reset my grip on every rep, only takes a second and ensures I'm not cheating myself by doing touch and go's

good advice here, i do the same. i can see not touching the ground on SLDLs or Romanian DLs, but for regular deads-TOUCH THE GROUND. i believe this to be especially important when going heavy . otherwise say hello to your lower back snapping like a twig eventually.

I do these from an elevated step or whatnot and make the bar touch my toes

But yeah. Normal deads, the weight needs to be DEAD. Put it down. No touch and go.
