    How to get the "pump"?

I am new to pre-workout supps, and I have yet to feel this, "pump," everyone is talking about. I am currently taking Muscle Pharm Assault. I take a scoop with 16 oz of water 30 mins before I lift. I don't get a very big rush of energy, and I dont notice much more stamina than usual. I dont feel a pump in my muscles either. What am I doing wrong? I have heard people feel like they have the strength of 10 men and feel the rush through their biceps, why can't I feel this. I am only 150lbs at 5'10. Also unless it's ice cold, this Blue raspberry taste's like paint and hairy *******. But anyway, how do i get this pump? Thanks.

By making 2 threads about it, that's how you achieve the pump.

If your diet and training aren't sufficient enough to get a pump, you won't get that from a supp. Unless you're powerlifting, which doesn't typically get a pump going. If you're diet and training is providing a pump, certain supps (with good ingredients in proper amounts) can make that pump even more pronounced.

I have a strict diet, no high fats. Keep the high in protein and eat sufficient carbs. Also good amounts of fiber. I workout hard, because im in training, I do as much weight as possible and push it in reps and sets. I literally feel nothing from the assault though.

It probably has to do with A. your diet not enough carbs B. you're not waiting long enough after you eat to take it or C. Assault just really isn't all that great.

    Edit:
    D. you're not staying adequately hydrated
Supplement a good diet: don't diet on supplements.

Drink more water throughout the day if you aren't already....lifting to get a pump is overrated ..no supplement is going to give you increased strength.

Focus on good form and increase resistance.

is this bad? I'm only in highschool.

Training also varies since my coach changes the routine up everyday. Usually its bench press, then incline or decline. Pull Up's, squats, deadlift. Then I do concentration curls by myself to finish up. Instead of pull-ups we may do bent over row, sometimes seated row. We also do shoulder presses often. It's never the same, he believes in mixing it up to confuse the body.

Looks like you're wayyyyy under eating IMO... For example my breakfast on a cut is 6 egg whites, 2 eggs and 3/4 cup of steel cut oats (around 75g carbs).

That sounds like a ton of food, I never get that hungry, but I always try to eat healthy. I dont think I'm at the stage where I eat that much because I cant lift a ton of weight. In time, I hope that I will be able to lift a lot more, so when that comes I probably will need to start eating like that. If anything I feel full.

Steel cut oats are about twice as nutritionally dense (1/4 cup = 1/2 normal oats). A lot of times lately if I'm in a hurry or just feeling lazy I blend the oats with some water and protein powder and drink that.

The product can only do so much when the diet and training aren't dialed in. From what I can see, you're not taking in enough carbs (and probably not enough fats).

In order to feel the pump you must first understand what the pump is. The pump is the feeling you get after a set when all the blood is rushing to your muscles. Its that swollen feeling you get in the muscle you just worked. As arnold said, can't quote directly but it should feel like your muscle is being filled up with air and going to pop. I actually can't really remember the exact phrase but just watch "pumping iron" and you'll know what the pump is. Now to get the pump, it's usually felt in the biceps and sometimes the chest. If you're still not feeling it, like others said we need to see your routines and diet.

is this bad? I'm only in highschool.

Training also varies since my coach changes the routine up everyday. Usually its bench press, then incline or decline. Pull Up's, squats, deadlift. Then I do concentration curls by myself to finish up. Instead of pull-ups we may do bent over row, sometimes seated row. We also do shoulder presses often. It's never the same, he believes in mixing it up to confuse the body.
Sweet jesus, son. Eat a sammich. I don't even knkw your height/weight, and I know you're undereating. You need more calories, specifically from carbs, period.

I posted it up a few. I know what the pump should feel like, but i've never felt it all that strong, and nothing at all when on the supp.

I dont want to get fat though, from genetics I have a slow metabolism. I also do cardio because I know that's crucial. But what food should I be eating. I had a can of gorbanzo beans for dinner tonight, because they are basically all protein. Also all I drink is water, and then the protein shake and my supp.

    Weight: about 150 (finally)
I want to gain weight, but not in fat. I feel like I have trouble getting rid of the fat, even though I play football and do run quite a bit.

You're 148 lbs. You're not at risk for looking "fat".

Eat a big ol' plate of spaghetti. Carbs are just as important as consuming protein.

Have you read the nutrition section stickies yet?

Not necessarily true. Go to the nutrition section and read all those stickies first, then start reading around in their posts. You have to eat in a caloric surplus to gain muscle/strength. You'll gain a little fat with that, but it won't be too much if you keep it to a moderate surplus. That link I put above will tell you how much of a surplus you should be eating.
