    Carb Back Loading

Donnie Thompson talked about this on his ******** today saying its great stuff. It had about 200 comments and a few guys endorsing/ saying they have lost FAT on it.

If you google it, it will bring you to the site that semi-explains it / sales pitches it. Theres even a pic of Brian Carroll saying he lost weight on it.

Anyone here know anything about it? Seems like another too good to be true kind of diet thingy where if your not on the gas, you won't see a$$.

I am down about 25lbs and stronger than I was when I was heavier. It's definitely not too good to be true. You can't find stuff online about it because this is how Keifer makes his living and people arent just spreading this $hit around and cheating him out of his hard earned money. Either buy the book or try to hire him.

and also how well would it work for someone who does quite a bit of heavy labour during the day. I know he advocates low-no carbs in the morning (or something along those lines) and I start busting my balls at 7:30 am.

If you are eating enough carbs at night to refill your glycongen storage you should be fine. You might feel like **** for a week or two but your body will convert. Bring water to work and have snacks ready. Steak and eggs for breakfest!!!!

are you also following this protocol? is there a maintenance, gaining, and cutting part to it or is it just increasing the carb backload or decreasing to lose weight?

Have you purchased the book as well? 80$ for a book is kind of a pocket burner!

I have in the past. No I do not have the book but if you spend a few hours reading logs and all Keifer's articals you can get a very good understanding of the backloading principals. $80 for good information is always worth it.

I wanna try it but I only lift 2x a week right now (with 2 conditioning days) so I'm not sure if it would really work like it should.

It would. Do some research. If you were tryging to lean out and drop some fat, you would only backload the 2 nights before your lifting session. He goes over this extensively in the book.

It is definitely not a gimmick. Albeit, I do not give 2 $hits about how I look or body composition. I care about performance. I need to be under 264 for a meet coming up and I was 285 when I started tweaking backloading to drop weight (I have been following Keifers advice for about 8 months now). It's bee easy to drop the weight and I am still strong. The only problem I ran into a couple weeks ago was I started dropping too fast and my equipment started getting too loose.

I've been carb back loading every night for the past four weeks. I track my macros M-F and give no fuks for my Saturday and Sunday night time meals. I've maintained my weight (purposely) and set PRs across the board.

Give it a month or two. Three days to a week is not enough to form an opinion on a diet protocol. Most likely, you are just adapting to a different style of eating.

Definitely buy the book. What you outlined is not anywhere near what CBL is. Actually, that just looks like a bad diet alltogether. I don't mean to be a dick, but you are severly misinformed.

Problem found. If you're dead set on this diet, then buy the book, and read ONLY the book.

Although $80 is ridiculously expensive, unless it comes with a complimentary blow job.

I've been doing backloading for a few months now and I ****!ng love it. I've been able to hover around 225lbs, gain strength, look leaner, lose inches on my waist, all while eating pretty much whatever the hell I want post-training. If anyone has any questions, i'd be glad to answer them. I have the e-book and have read it several times.

    - do not try backloading while doing westside training. WestSide is simply too demanding on the system for backloading to work. I tried it for 8 weeks and died out. Been doing it now with the 5/3/1 and loving it.

Here is a typical day of eating for me when training ..

1; 1/2s iso whey, coffee with cream
    2; 7oz chicken, 1/2c green, 1oz nuts
    3; 7oz chicken, 1/2c greens, 1oz nuts
    4; preWO; Shock-T w/ 1/2s UWP
    5; postWO; EAA Nitro/IsoWhey
    6; boneless wings, 1.5c rice, 3 oreos w/ milk
7; 2s iso whey, 1 bowl of cocoa pebbles

This was yesterday's diet. Typically, my backloads are much dirtier; burgers, pizza, etc. And I wake up looking/feeling lean.

Interesting. I ran BL with westside and I burnt out pretty quickly (ran that combo for 8+ weeks). I switched to the 5/3/1 and have had steady progress while running the BL'ing. Jealous that you were able to still train WS with BL'ing. Love that.

I don't know anything about backloading, but have I been doing something similar unintentionally with my post-training weight gain shake, pizza and giant trifle? If I have then that's going to be my excuse for sticking to this diet.

I strongly suspect the amount of food you ate and the amount of food isaku900 ate while doing CBL differed significantly. In fact, based on what I've seen a lot of people in this thread post regarding how they eat vs. actually seeing some of the meals isaku900 eats, I'm fairly certain of it.

Let me put it this way: That day's worth of food you posted above? That's less than he has for dinner.

I haven't ever heard of carb backloading before this thread but I think I used to eat somewhat similar to this protocol just because I didn't have enough willpower to keep my carbs low while cutting weight. I'd try to cut back on my carbs during the day but by the time I got home from work I felt so bad I'd gorge on carbs at dinner. Come to think of it, I was A LOT leaner back then and I never did cardio....

You're not eating very much there. It's probably less than 3k cals.

Fair enough. Through about 15-20 weeks of CBL'ing, I've been able to stay around 225lbs eating what I've posted. Strength increases, waist decreases, feeling good. For a guy who is 6' and 315, I expect him to be eating a lot more than me, whether we're talking about CBL'ing or a more traditional diet. Prior to the CBL diet, I was eating a more typical diet; 4-6 whole food meals with protein/carbs/fats. I'm a bit surprised myself that I've bumped down my protein from well over 300g to barely breaking 200g, yet still see positive results. But I'll go with it.
