On a side note there have been several breweries opening up in central Texas. Unfortunately none of them have yet to produce a good beer considering their premium prices. Several new ones in Austin and one recently opened up in Pflugerville. What's the local craft beer scene look like in the south-east?

It's mostly shyt. Cigar City and there's one brewery in NC I hear are good. This is a good resource:

Wish I could have tried one of those. Me drinking espresso and stout french press coffee like water probably isn't helping me appreciate these beers either. I expect a hard punch of coffee flavor in the face when sipping on a java porter or stout. Mikkeller beer geek breakfast & Founders breakfast stout were the only ones to satisfy my coffee cravings, but I don't have access to either short of trades. Fuqk.



Real Ale always used Katz fair trade coffee, but the prices recently went up. They used much less coffee this batch because of the increase in cost which made their product suffer. Switch to a less expensive but equally good coffee and use a lot more of it I say. But yeah bunch of slack-jawed hipster *******s.

That sucks about Real Ale. Cheaping out on coffee. BTW, y'all will be getting Firestone-Walker beers real soon in Austin.

Ever had any of their barrel aged stuff? I'm not big on their line up either but Rumpkin, Uncle Jacob's and the sours have all been very good.

Huge let down due to its hype. It's like Ruination with more pine and less malt. Again, another Alesmith beer that's short on malt, IMO. Aroma is fantastic, but the flavor is very watered down like the Alesmith X. Sorry, but Hop Stoopid is much better than this and cheaper where I am.

Saturday night is our Halloween party. It's supposed to be something like 38* that night, so I intend on drinking it there when sober. If it sucks, man, Alesmith gon git the ban hammer. Both X and IPA are far watered-down tasting for me to approve. Very disappoint.

There are no good seasonals out besides pumpkin beers, like Pumking or Pumpkinhead. Check out maybe something from Ommegang if you've never tried them, or Brooklyn 1 trashed my ass one night, though I had accidentally aged it for something like 2-3 years; idk how it is fresh.
Or just go with old faithful, ST Pumking

Kasteel ROUGE, not Rogue. It has a permanent tap at the bar I frequent a lot due to all the girls and ****s that go there. And ya, there are a lot of ****s and queers that want a beer that doesn't taste like a beer.

While your posts are certainly rep-worthy, my specific rep in regards to your location was meant for TopSecret. While I love my Devil's Backbone, think Starr Hill is alright, and even occasionally like that I can get DuClaw, I still hate every day knowing how much better the selection is for West Coasters.
