Can't go wrong with Ommegang ever. Three Philosophers is insanely complex. I havent had Abbey ale in a while but it is also great.
Last night was heavy:
Giving this a second chance again; pleasantly enjoyable offering, but I've had far better in Brown country
Damn awesome stuff as expected. But honestly did not impress me as much as I wanted, and I fuking love Doppelbocks. Need to go get some aged stuff.
This was great stuff. huge hoppiness with some slight astringency but this was so damn drinkable. Hoppy Pilsners are always good stuff.
So damn good! This officially showed me the importance of proper cellaring. The first time I had it, was pretty bad and was purchased in a warm store. This one was purchased in a refrigerated environement; then cellared correctly. Big difference. The hop flavor and yeast ester balance was damn good.
With the Espresso IRS coming in the gates this year, time to get rid of this one. Aged nicely, the yeast got a little more hold on the flavor; but it was still as robust as IRS ever was. Anise was a little heavy but overall was quite good.
Also in case you dont beerpulse:
Espresso IRS confirmed but no label yet I can find.Last edited by spak; 02-09-2013 at 02:24 PM.

Drake's and Knee Deep Brewing.
Anyone who knows anything about beer, knows that Pliny the Younger is currently out at the Russian River. Except not a single **** was given.
Let the yuppies and the tourists waste 6.5 hours waiting in line up for an incredibly overrated beer. I'll take no part. Even today, more than a week after it's release the line up was around the block, signifying a wait time of approximately 6 hours.
So, while the rest of the beer drinking world carries on with life, rather than bend to Vinnie's will, some amazing things have been released by my two newest and currently favorite breweries. Drake's out of San Leandro, CA and Knee Deep out of Lincoln, CA.
I've been able to find Simtra around in a few places, but it's now all sold out. Simtra is a triple ipa weighing in @ 11.25% abv and 130+ ibu's. The Hopacalypse comes in at 9.3% abv and 100+ ibu's.
I was in the right place at the right time yesterday, when I got into a conversation with a beer guy stocking the shelves at a local store. He let me know he had his case of Hopacalypse in the back and that it was going on the shelves that night but had not yet even been entered into the system. I scored.
Furthermore, being in such a good mood I decided I'd hit ALL my favorite locations and put together myself a little bit of a pretentiously delicious reward. Below you will see 4 empty, and 4 full bottles of Hopacalypse, the last of my Simtra and well, never mind the Denogginizer - he's only there cause he get's lonely.
My apologies to all who had to go without, as each receiving location only received 1 case. I promise that I used only fair and sound business tactics to acquire the bottles.
Anyways, here's to hoping there's some of you out there who are enjoying the pinnacle of IPA style as I currently am. MMM liquid gold.

Oh good god... I had no idea the black label was out concurrently! I still feel pretty awesome, but probably not as awesome as you! Good job!
Please take some good shots of that black label when you crack it!Originally Posted by jasonw86

I've only heard good things about drakes. Still haven't caught on that much on beer advocate but in sure by mid year they will be only of the next big things as big as hills farmstead has been in the last year? Maybe not but still will receive a lot of hype

Dudes, Churchkey.
I just can't say enough. Not only is their selection immaculate, but check this out:
I sat there for a solid five hours today. Drank double digit number of beers. Ordered a plate of wings which, by itself, is 8 bucks.
Check? $24.60.
I heart that place.
P.S. Today my palate was made aware of sours. Hnnnng. Started with a Gasthuys, had a few others, and recall Tilquin and Caos being delicious. Those names may be wrong because sours are foreign to me, excuse the pun.
Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!Run. Rave. Repeat.

My night was GRRRRREAT
Excellent BSPA! Nice complexity with some big peppery esters with great complexity of fruitiness.
First time having a Summit, I'm impressed. This is a great IPA. Lots of citrus and tropical hops with a nice malt balance.
Great Coffee Stout. Aromas were huge, the taste wasn't nearly as huge; but this was still delicious.
Holy damn this is fantastic. Tons of citrus fruity and tropical hop complexity and malt balance; and super smooth to sip on. I need some Boulevard distro in MI dammit
