I'm sending $85 worth(price match, plus homebrews), almost got mine all ready to ship. Lots of locals and good beers Cyde cant get. Kuhnhenn, PT5, etc. Not going to give too much away, dont want to spoil the fun.
Just finishing up a 1 Liter starter of WLP300 Weihenstephan. I'm making a test batch (3 gal)for the beer I am brewing for a friends event in June. Dunkelweizen with Cinnamon and citrus peels. I'm doing all of the spicing in secondary. Soak em in liquor and add it in. Serious.Last edited by spak; 02-07-2013 at 06:49 PM.

Tonight's offerings:
This is an excellent Saison. Nice complexity with great balance of lemon/pear/apple and pepper/coriander/clove/floral/grassiness. Very crisp and smooth
Damn good! I had avoided buying this because of initial lower reviews(and the $16 price), but this is very robust and balanced. Apparently brewed with a small amount of Liefmans Cuvee Brute cherry ale, but it really isn't too prominent. Some light cherry with raisins and a lot of milk chocolate and cocoa. Dark bread, toast, cloves, and light peppery yeast esters round it out.
Finished with a Founders Centennial. Such a beauty of an IPA[IIFYM]

But honestly I really like to get what I seek in a style when I get a bottle. I usually rate an infected beer poorly, because bottle infections of normal styles ruin the beer most of the time. I can say I dont think I have rated an accidental infection positively at all, that I can recall. Sours and wild ales are intentionally inoculated with wild yeast, and the brew/barrel master will blend it to get the desired profile. Huge difference.[IIFYM]

Agreed.
You did one hell of a packing job, I had to break out the scissors (surgeon style) to cut through the saran wrap
Not gonna lie... I like that beer.
As in infected, ya, I'm sure he does. That smoked porter was like, FUUUUUUU.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

Alright, bros. I need some advice, and some suggestions.
I love Belgian style beers, but my preference is toward Farmhouse/Saisons. I don't know jack about sours. But my favorite tavern has 14 sours on tap this weekend, and I am visiting tomorrow. I don't know specifics, but for those who enjoy the style, which names should I be searching for?
That's the "suggestions" part. As for advice, the tavern is also supposed to have their three casks filled with Adnams. Never had before. So, for those who have, what should expect?
Anyway, I am looking forward to the day. This is the best beer bar in D.C. and the crew know my tastes, are liberal with the samples, so I have anticipation of discovering some new things.
Cheers!Run. Rave. Repeat.

Breweries:
Jolly Pumpkin(likely to be there)
Hanssens
The Bruery(you are in for a god damn treat if one of theirs is on tap)
Lost Abbey
Oud Beersel
New Belgium(they might have La Folie on tap! Ive had Tart Lychee on tap before also)
Girardin 1882
Allagash
New Holland Blue Sunday
Lindemans Cuvee Rene
Monks Cafe (starter sour, not that sour. Drink this first if they have it and there is a 90% chance they will)
Cuvee Des Jacobins Rouge
De Proef Zoetzuur
Rodenbach Classic or Grand Cru
Bavik Petrus aged Pale
That about covers it for your distro area of DC. If Cantillon or Drie Fonteinen is on tap it will be some sort of miracle.
Never even heard of Adnams, but they are a British real ale brewery it seems. There are probably going to be some nice English Bitters on beer engine, so if you have ever had an ESB then expect that, but with hardly any carbonation.[IIFYM]

Yeah, Mondays are tough.
Vibrio, Frisco's is in Maryland. I roadtripped once and ended up there. Good selection, but without Churchkey's environment. http://www.friscogrille.com/
Churchkey is great though. I get treated like a king. They and I know that my blog gets about 2.5 hits a day, yet they appreciate my willingness to pass the good word. I really appreciate that place.Run. Rave. Repeat.

edit: oh and I realized how I goofd on my brew I didnt boil it long enough after I added the hops apparently it needs to boil to remove the flavor and bitterness from them...oh well“Gotta have opposites, light and dark and dark and light, in painting.
