I wish this was something that just stayed as it was. All this farmhouse bull**** is stupid. This was a great beer. I'd absolutely love to have some original Wytchmaker again as well. Great beers that showed great promise, that fell to farmhouse shenanigans that I'm simply not interested in.

Their beer is too damn expensive. I won't be buying anymore for myself. I'm sure JK is still good if you like those styles of beer, but it's really not for me. When they made the switch to farmhouse, the William Cannon Costco received a couple pallets of the original Wytchmaker and sold it for $6 a bottle. I miss those days.
Those were nice fresh too. I never had the patience to age out and ended up drinking immediately.
Jelly. I have a bottle of farmhouse Black Metal I'll probably lay down for a couple years to hopefully tame that out of control yeast.

Currently drinking FFF Pride and Joy Imperial Mild. Easy to drink. Smooth malt body with a nice touch of hops on the end.

Had Hopslam last night. Awesome beer, but again not necessarily worth the cost. The sixer will do me just fine. A lot boozier than I ever remember. For some reason it really made me think of SN Bigfoot. Easily would say Surly Abrasive>Lagunitas Sucks>Hopslam in trying all of them both on tap and bottle/can. Of course Im a homer, but I have yet to have a beer that I thought topped fresh Abrasive...even Pliny, Dreadnaught, Sculpin, etc. Lagunitas Sucks would beat it just for price point ($10 for six vs $16 for 4 16oz) but not flavor.

Got my hands on some too.
Enjoying one now.
Quoted you Pilot because I mostly agree. I LOVE Surly. This year's Hopslam and, forgive me, I've only had a few sips does have a really delicious "pop" to it. Its more citrus and tasty to me than Sucks, which I also love. I can't really compare Hopslam, Sucks, and Surly Furious (never had Abrasive); I think they all deliver differently. Spicyness vs piney vs citrus. All damn good.
You mentioned Sculpin. And I think it is the best balanced of all mentioned. Perhaps not the best, but best balanced. All four are on a level of greatness.
I have so many beers in my fridge.Run. Rave. Repeat.

Was feeling fat tonight so I ordered some bdubbs boneless. I pass the best beer store in the area on the way there so I thought I should at least go window shopping. Then I saw NY now has Ballast Point... Was pissed I forgot to throw the growler in my truck post Southern Tier visit last week as they have Sculpin on draft. Anyway, just a mini purchase:

Package from Chi landed at my door. 6 Hopslams/some other fresh IPAs/Black Note/Collage Batch #1/few veggie brews from new garlus.
Im kind of annoyed because he said he would be giving me hoppy ales and stouts from the area...wtf are the veggie brews doing in there. I mean I like them and they are pretty refreshing but I specifically asked for stouts and he said yea no problem.
This kid is killing me its our 4th trade too. But in his defense he did get me a bottle of double daisy...which actually might be the closest beer to heady I have had in terms of taste profile. My Log:

My boxes are usually over 10 lbs so I can just use my bodyweight digital scale because it will read anything over 10 lbs. Fedex adjusts it to a more accurate weight when you walk in and ship it. Charges it off your credit card so its always off of their weighing anyways.

You have two options; but it is in your best interest to pre-pay shipping through USPS, if that's your chosen path, as you save a bit of money...
1. Use a food scale. This is what I do for small shyt. Not recommended for beers though.
2. Bathroom scale. I've found that if you have a digital one, it's not even remotely accurate by placing the box on it, so you will need to climb on it, solo, then climb on after (or before) with the box. Simple subtraction.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

Drinking Expedition, Founders RIS, FBS, Wake-n-Bake, etc. have spoiled me and its hard to drink and appreciate the lighter stouts and porters now. Had 4 or 5 different stouts with lower ABV the past few nights and they all seemed too thin & watery. Had a Left Hand Milk Stout tonight and remember liking it in the past but it was pretty meh.
I opened an account with FedEx and used the prepaid label option. Didn't have a scale in my apartment so just guessed the weight. My credit card is tied to the account and they weigh it again before the package goes out anyways so it doesn't really matter what weight you put.
Thats what I figured. I remembered seeing a post by Fugitive asking if a package arrived safely yesterday and he is from that area. Didn't think you would complain if it was someone on here though and be that much of a dick, haha.Last edited by Lethal04; 01-31-2013 at 10:36 PM.

I think ill just take a break from trading with him for awhile. Well I want to take a break in general I really only want 1 thing between now and the summer when apocalypse cow comes out and that's abyss. So that's the only trade I see myself doing other then hooking up people here with heady when I get it.
Speaking of which has anyone in Texas seen abyss I read it just landed there.Last edited by OmniscientCause; 02-01-2013 at 08:53 AM.

Really surprised by how much am enjoying the beer I am currently drinking.
Kujo by Flying Dog.
Flying Dog is relatively local, and I have found their beers to be good, but not special. And coffee stouts are so damn trendy and ubiquitous.
But this is solid. Nice bourbon scent. Thick and chewy with a real nice sweetness that balances out the coffee. I prefer regular RIS over coffee stouts, but this is as good a coffee stout as I've tried.Run. Rave. Repeat.
