    Progression is pretty slow on 5/3/1. If you're below 315 squat for 1 rep max and 225 bench for 1 rep max, I'd say go with upper/lower. You'll get more progress over time. Remember, progressive overload and caloric surplus are vital to muscle and strength gains!

    I'd lean towards the upper lower, it will allow you to progress quickly enouhpgh and get to the big numbers.
