Anyone here prefer walking>running when it comes to calorie burning?

Of course running is better for the cardiovascular system, but I hate running.
brb heart and lungs hurt for 10 minutes straight.
    brb boring as fukk.
Im gonna start walking 40 minutes on the treadmill every day. The treadmill says I burn near 300 calories, but I believe it's around 150-200.

Low intensity cardio has all the same cardiovascular benefits, just doesn't benefit your VO2 max like running does.

So HIIT and walking at a 3mph pace will yield the same cardiovascular benefits? What about lung capacity?

For every 100 you burn by doing nothing, I probably only burn 50 .

Depends on length of time, but yes you'll see improvements in cholesterol, triglycerides, and other markers of heart health from both. Just don't expect walking to make you a star athlete.

    Lol?

    Progress in terms of what?

Cardio is a waste of time if your goal isn't heart health. The most efficient way to burn calories is to just not eat them.

-I once ran everyday for 2 months and nothing changed. I eventually got up to 20 minutes without stopping and a medium intensity. I hated every minute of it.
-Nice assumption. Never said I ran on a treadmill, did I? Just said walked on one.
-Or, I could walk for 40 minutes and continue to burn extra calories without doing something I hate doing.

I have seen a difference between eating less and burning way less and eating more but burning more
When the caloric deficit is created mostly with food reduction I end up more emaciated, tired looking
But if I burn more by being more active and eat more while still creating the same deficit I lose fat without the emaciation/tiredness side-effects
60% deficit through food and 40% deficit through extra exercise seems what works best for me

    Also, why don't you jog?
At 4.5 miles per hour you still burn 300 calories in less than an hour

Cardio is cardio. But I would prefer cycling obviously.

But in regards to the OP's question, walking at a steep incline would get the job done.

Those effects are all in your head, or you are having nutrient deficiencies.
I don't run or jog because my joints can't take it, a few years ago I obtained a stress fracture from running and permanently quit.

I do cardio for health purposes. It consists of walking my dog daily for ~45 minutes and I started to pick up oly lifting. Do several set of 10 snatches and you will feel like you are on fire, or at least I do.

As long as you understand that the weight loss is from a caloric deficient and not the exercise itself, I have no objections to make

(no creeper with the smiley lol)
    Best lifts:
    Bench press: 315x4, 345x1
    Squat: 465x1
    Strict press: 185x8, 195x5, 215x1
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

I was just offering an alternative to accelerate your goals. But take the easy way out if that suits you better.

I do love how you negged me over 1680 points just because I disagreed with you. I could literally feel your butthurt seeping through my screen when I got that notification. If your skin is that thin you're better off not being on the internet all together.

I feel 30 second of sprinting followed by 45 seconds of walking is easier on the knees.

The only thing he would have gained is a little endurance. Not a big deal.

And the fat burning characteristics of cardio are minimal; they exist to no appreciable extent.

If you're going to walk, why not walk outside? Walking on a treadmill for 40 minutes is probably the same as walking outside for about 25 minutes - the belt of the treadmill makes it way easier, and you're not really using that time to maximum efficiency.

-You did say I ran on a treadmill. You told me to run outside instead of on a treadmill. Where would I be running if it wasn't outside?

Offering alternative advice to accelerate my goals? My goals are to burn calories to increase fat loss. I negged you because you came into MY thread acting like a smartass.
I'll rep you in 7 days if I see you give good, helpful advice. Unlike what you gave me.

Yeah it's better for your joints too. Years of running will just wear you out. Ancestors outsmarted prey, they didn't outrun them... we're not built to run.

Yea, actually we ARE built to run -- just not marathons.
