    I haven't done the epsom salt, but I did order some Mediterranean Sea salt and it is awesome. I got fresh rain. Smells like a spa and turns the water a cool blue.

    Weekend Wrap-Up
    Friday
    Worked a half day then took the family to the neighborhood pool by my work for the afternoon. It was a blast!





    Between the pool and getting my haircut I saw this in a parking lot an thought I needed a pic of it. It made me laugh



    Then we went to a cookout with some extended family.









    Nutrition was on point today but a little on the salty side. I ended up weighing in the next day at 258.0lbs but again I think it was the salt.


    Saturday
    Yoga
    1 hour class
    Yep you read that right I suffered through an hour of yoga. I did feel really good afterwards though. I think as long as I don't see my lifting suffering I will keep this in the rotation it makes Erica happy and there are too many dudes drooling over her in this class as it is. My mom took it with me too and she looked over me halfway through the class and said, "Did you do something to make Erica mad at you?"

    Insulating the Garage
    Spent most of the day installing insulation in the garage. This was a pretty easy project except for the few sheets I cut wrong and had to kung fu into place, but I guess that part was even kind of fun.

    Sunday
    I talked it over with Erica and we decided it would be better to work on the garage after chruch instead of lifting so I could get it done and then I would just train Tues-Friday to make it up. Finished up the garage by putting up some cabinets and putting all the junk back into the garage, by lunchtime we had the garage back together and it was noticeably cooler. We fit the van and my car in the garage. The only thing we still need to do is put some blinds up on the 2 windows and it will be done

    Dinner with MIL
    Get up there for Sunday night dinner with Erica's Mom, which turned into semi Strongman training. I moved a 120lb statue, 3 roughly 50 lb rocks and some heavy furniture for her. After all everyone knows that is why I lift weights

    The kids did get to have fun though





    Food was good again and weighed in at 257.0lbs this ties my low.

    Monday
    Golf Outing
    Holy Crap this was awesome. A client of mine asked us if we would like to play in the Anthony Munoz golf outing. We were happy to accept. They don't really golf, so my dad and I brought 2 of his friends with us. It was the best, most fun outing I have ever done. When you came in you got a nice Nike dri-fit shirt and hat along with a Hall of Fame mini helmet signed by Anthony Munoz, and of course some nice tees and ball marker. I was happy with that but they also gave us $125 to spend on Taylor Made stuff. I ended up getting 2 gloves, an umbrella, 2 hats, and a box of balls to go with it. Besides all that there were food sponsors on half the holes which were hard to pass up but I made wise choices skipping the fast food spots and eating things like kobe beef sliders and a nice steak at the dinner afterwards. This thing was AWESOME!

    I got home in time to watch the kids while Erica taught her class last night. I was cooking up my lunches for the week and came back in the room to find Hank doing this

    This really spoke to me. I also realize that this is probably annoying to see all this posting about nutrition and then to be literally making zero progress. I plan on working harder and smarter to meet this goal. I need tough love like this more often.

    I kinda agree with Thom. You do make progress but then after a couple of weeks you blow it with a bad week. Consistency.

    The only real problem I see with your nutrition is that you continually "commit" to changing it and it never follows through. The nutrition in itself isn't that big of an issue in my eyes as you eat enough, you do get good quality food in and I could care less if you possess more than enough adipose tissue. My biggest concern is that you fall into a habit of breaking commitments to yourself and that can translate to training. Then you have a problem. I have experienced it too many times myself.     Your lifestyle is based around family and training augments that. Your family doesn't augment training. That said, I highly recommend living your life on the weekends, eating what Erica makes on the week nights, then just cutting down on the night time snacking. At your weight and activity level, a couple scoops of ice cream isn't the problem, couple cookies isn't an issue and you could have a brownie if they are made....just don't put a half gallon of the first in a bowl lined with #2 and #3....unless you wanna be 300 lbs....which isn't all bad.

    I agree with all of this my late night snacking is the culprit and I also agree the rest of the day is great. You always get me thinking and questioning the need to be so strict on my diet when I already know what the problem is. I see your point on how committing and failing and completely agree. I often get down because I am looking at my weight and I am sure there are times when that has effected my training.

    This is why you need a journal...not something you type out but, something you keep with you and write down everything you put in your mouth eating or drinking and supplementing.

    You want to lift at a high level so, it will require you to pay as much attention to your plan, not a phuking diet, to get you where you want to be.

    Do you have to buy the junk food? I know having kids usually means having some crap like chips in the pantry. If you could avoid buying it you wouldn't snack on it. It isn't likely that you will go to the store at night if there isn't any junk food in the house.

    Yup....baby steps man. You eat well, say, 70% of the time. First step will be to increase that to 80% of the time by eliminating SOME snacking at night. Just have a small bowl of ice cream after dinner, couple cookies or some chips. Pick one and have a reasonable portion. It is something the kids will also enjoy if they are still up. The other 20% of the time is life. Just make as good of choices as possible. You don't want to be at a point where you are at a great burger joint and order a salad, but don't want to rely on a food truck for lunch every day. Find your balance and it will be fine. Bigger things in life to worry about.

    Here is how I avoid certain things at home

    I don't buy them

    I can roll through a family picnic bag of doritos in a New york minute and that's right now

    So, I don't purchase them.

    When I cut body weight, which I'm about to do, I eat more food actually. It's cleaner and I avoid more sugar and things like the junk food and snack food. That and pizza which is my nemisis. But, if I don't buy it, I don't eat it.

    Same here. I dont buy stuff that is high calorie but low in nutritional value. I dont really like junk food until I cant really have it though. Normally when Im hungry I just want something with some substance like a steak or a burger.

    I am literally soaking all this in and creating a plan. I did a lot of thinking last night and have come to some conclusions. I will write them all up later as I have to decode what is hand written in my journal that I started last night. I think it will help.
