My gym that i go to currently has no station for deadlifting or cleaning like my high school football weight room did. Where do you guys go to do those exercises? I can see lowering the catch bars on a squat rack all the way for deadlifting, but what about cleans?
P.S. The looks i recieve from deadlifting in the squat racks are priceless. Especially from the guys that benchpress 400lbs and squat maybe 185 on a good day.

My gym has both a platform and a half-rack with open space. I deadlift from the half-rack and once I figure out how to clean correctly I'll start using the platform .
“The problem with many hypertrophy-based programs is that they leave out the strength component. You might get bigger as a result of the program, but if you don’t get any stronger you’re still a chump in my book. That’s right, I don’t care how big you are, if you aren’t strong you’re a sham. Having big muscles and no strength is the training equivalent of wearing a strap-on. All show and no go. End of story.” - Jim Wendler

In my own gym, in front of the power rack. In a commercial gym, if there's no designated spot or lifting platform, in front of the power rack.
No brain, no gain.
"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon

I generally have to do them in the squat rack.. but no one at my gym cares since they see the squat rack and think it's a steel monster
Otherwise i like to do dumbell cleans occassionaly"Farmers carry between sets crew"
"Cunning linquist crew"
"Flies confederate flag, not racist crew"
I like my cars American. I like my guns European. I like my food Asian. I like my women African.. wait what?

Why does it matter what the "guys who do curls" think? If nobody is using those chairs, just push it aside so you can do your workout. Then put it back when you're done. It's that simple. Let's be real here, who's going to need more space, the curler or deadlifter? Unless somebody is using those "chairs", just push it aside. I used to get weird looks all the time when I deadlift at my gym, but nobody really cares now, not that I cared what they think in the first place.
