weight - 193.7 lbs (-47.3)
Weight took a several pound drop -
Most likely because I SLEPT last night! 2 hr nap from 5-7 and then another 8 hours overnight. Gave in and took 10 mg melatonin and it helped keep me asleep.
Have a chance to come near a new prep low tomorrow or sat as carbs continue to drop the next two days (240 grams today)
As mentioned - planning on going to the gym more to talk with all my buddies, get a short pump up going on and then getting out of there. Planning a short treadmill walk in the evening and then likely shave everything tonight.
My little bro gets in from San Fran tonight - unfortunately not to attend my show but to be in a wedding on sAt but will be nice to see him.
Will get some pics posted from my posing practice later today. It has been overcast and raining in PA for like 6 days straight so I am at an all new level of pasty white complexion

Front loading question
Hey guys,
So historically I've backloaded my carbs going into a show and you know, that can be a crap shoot of sorts.
This time front loading is working well. Since the beginning of the week I am tightening up nicely and tonight look really good. The question is what is it about your physique you look at when you try to determine if you are flattening out or not?
My plan is to go lighter on carbs tomorrow <200 but keeping the option there to add more in the evening depending on how I look. Curious what criteria you use.
I guess this is why I always prefer to backload my clients because I know from weeks of body analysis how many carbs an individual can tolerate without spilling too much

Lol - first off there is no way in hell I would compete next year and make it 3 years in a row. I haven't decided what my future is at this point. I really wanna make strides to grow my coaching business. While I've had around 50 clients since Demon Fitness started I feel like I can do better. It's not competitors either I enjoy working with the most. It's the average guy looking to get healthy and change himself for the better. They are the most rewarding and thankful clients. Hard to compete with all the p90x, shaunTs out there though.
I hopefully won't compete again for several years, maybe even wait until I am a master to compete again. I want to find another driving goal that still requires frequent gym work though. I always say powerlifting would be cool but never pull the trigger. I always get injured when I am close to or pushing PRs. My body just can't hang and I hate being injured.
As for the front load - I have done it so it's just a question of if I need to add a little more carbs tomorrow or not.

Be my marketing guy
I'm taking small strides. I put together goodie bags for free for the NABBA show I am doing and they include business cards. I will also have 2 new testimonials from competitors who are both competing same weekend as me. I've been trying to find a price point that is high enough to keep non serious clients away yet cheap enough to appeal to the budget student starting out who can benefit most from coaching.
It's been a struggle but I truly enjoy the work and am envious of those who managed to grow their business to be their only source of income and quit their 9-5

Flattening out can be the result of a lot of things not just food (lack of hydration, etc). The biggest thing I look for is separation in the muscles and pop of the muscles. I noticed this most on me in my chest, if the cross striation isn't there then I am flat. Any muscle that has been a STAND OUT MUSCLE during your prep (you notice it every time you pose etc) should be popping. If not you are flat. It takes A LOT to spill for most people especially after depleting for this long. I'd take in much more than 200g of carb tonight, but that's just my .02 Even on a front load carbs shouldn't be low on the back end.

You bring up a good point about the chest striation. When I was full through prep, I could feel my chest really be tight and pumped and see the striations a good bit in the upper chest. Will see if they come out this morning when I pump up and go from there.l I'm also planning on a good amount of carbs tomorrow morning, starting at 6 hours out from pre-judge, though I don't expect those to really do much to fill me out given the short amount of time I have between consuming and stage.
Thanks JP!

Just put this together for an example. These were all taken the same week. Separation in pic two is much more pronounced than pic 1. Pic 3 the separation is there but you can see the chest is much fuller as well (3rd pic is 2 days out). From pic three we backed off a tiny bit, let go of a little fullness and regained a little separation. Might be hard to see the chest fullness in 3 because of size but it was a pretty big difference.

I say powerlifting with a good coach that is one of the things that keeps me relatively injury free. Do it! I think you would be great at it

One more meal yet tonight and then it's up around 6 AM to have a nice little steak and sweet potato breakfast. Going to do a short pump up here and do some poses as well before bed and my last meal. Hope I can get at least 6 hours of sleep tonight - so anxious, nervous, excited for tomorrow that rest seem highly unlikely
