Its not a sport that demands stamina, just because it takes 90 minutes to complete a match. I can think of dozens of other sports right now that are far more demanding, Basketball definately one of them.

Oh lord, just admit that you dont know what you're talking about. Football is about positionning yourself, tactics en technique, and then yeah maybe athletic abilities and then stamina. You can be tough and athletic all you want, but you can suck @ soccer. Its a game, and thats why all over the world lots of people like to play it, because everyone can and because it doesnt take that much effort as opposed to other sports. Best proof is Messi. Thats not an athletically gifted guy. And if you dont even need great athletic ability, what good will stamina do to you then?

Meanwhile in soccer coaches have to bench the entire roster if they have a game coming up on the weekend to conserve energy and will play entire games with the reserve squad
