495 lb squat (first real max attempt post injury)

Yes weak for BW but getting stronger.

Injury was a crooked thoracic spine (pushed out to the right). A month of chiropractor visits and another month of light-moderate weights at the end of last year/beginning of this year.

    Gonna compete late this year.

Glad your back is healed up man.

Just a heads up, you'll need to get that squat down another few inches to pass in competition.

^^^^^ Yes you need to be a touch lower on your depth, but I think you can still hit that weight. Also, get a good powerlifting belt and definitely get some better shoes to squat in. Chucks are good if you have the flexibility to hit depth in them or some Oly shoes. Just don't keep squatting in shoes that have a squishy soles.

Gonna be picking up some Oly shoes in a couple months. I have some flatter, hard soled shoes I can lift in but I like the elevated heel of the running shoes. I guess I'll just suck it up until I get the Romaleos. Thanks for the tips, bro.

Most recent injury was my thoracic spine being crooked to the right, all scoliosis-like. Wasn't bad enough to affect my posture (as far as I could tell) but since it pushed my ribcage out of place, all the intercostals and whatnot were cramping up like crazy. Took like 10 minutes to get mobile every morning and probably an hour of moving around before I was somewhat comfortable. Cause was most likely heavy high-bar position partial squats like a dum dum and heavy yoke walks back when I was training at a strongman gym.

    Thanks

    Takeaways from this thread:
    1) go a couple inches lower
    2) wear better shoes
