if that was my dog , those two pitbulls would been my dinner i would legit go insane. Just annoyed by that fact that the guy was filming yet he could of done something to help. The poor dog was still alive after its leg was torn off , you could see it panting heavily.

i know one very effective way to get a pit bull off you....but there a catch, you need to have smokes on you. About 10 years ago a friends dog was being attacked by a pitbull that was not on a leash, the pitbul was just using his weight to pin down the jack russell of my friend so he took his cig and put it out in the pitbulls eye. The owner of the pitbull was doing nothing and when he saw what my friend did he tried setting his dog onto my friend, luckily for my friend, the pitbull was not interested in fighting anymore.

Yes because a lit cig is the only thing that can hurt a dogs eye.

a friend of mine was trying to pull her dog away from another dog when they were fighting (the other dog was much smaller) and her dog lockjaw'd her shoulder.
so tragic, a huge chunk of her body was ripped off

I have a pitbull mix and two labs. If you don't know what to do in the event your pitbull grabs another dog...shouldn't own one. You immediately need to find a stick to pry the dogs mouth open. IF that doesn't work, constrict the dogs airflow while using the stick.

My little 1 year old pure bred black lab just bit the crap out of my pitbull mix over the weekend. A piece of food fell to the floor and they fought over it.

1. Don't walk pit bulls where other dogs are. They ARE dog aggressive, which is why dog parks are a no-no for pit bull owners.
2. Carry a breakstick if you MUST walk around other dogs. I would have had this dog off the smaller one in less than 5 seconds.
3. Make sure YOUR dog is leashed.
4. Don't smack or pour water on a dog that is attacking. It only excites them and makes things worse.

Follow these rules and you'll be 1 step closer to a responsible pit bull owner.

Maybe an unstable dog. I personally would only try to break up a pit bull fight because they are the easiest ones to deal with. Unlike most dogs, they don't cur snap at anything near their mouth. They bite and shake, making separation easier and faster without the fear of getting bit.

Not hard to find a heavy object to bludgeon it with. My dog killed a cat in my backyard in a similar fashion to that, but it ran and knocked it off the fence... killed the thing before I could get to her. Stopped thrashing the cat when I knocked it over the head with a wooden flower pot; thing was already dead though.

I love dogs and I love pitbulls, but eh, if you're gonna have a dog like that you need to both be able to control it and train it from a puppy to never bite. My dogs have no concept of attacking something like that (1 does, but he is small and was never neutered). I'm always afraid that a big dog is gonna grab one of the little ones (have 2 small, 1 med, 1 lrg) and break it's little back... Happened to my friends chiuaha(sp); guy stepped on it's toe and it squeeled, their lab mix got spooked and grabbed it, thrashed once and broke his back. Had to put him down.
